What do two year olds usually draw? My daughter can draw a person, but perfect( for a little kid) the eyes, nose , mouth, hair, ears, body are where they are supposed to be. Is this usual? If not, should I be encouraging her to draw more. She can also copy letters. Just wondering, my oldest daughter doesn't draw as well and she's 5.

Your daughter is very talented and advanced. Most 2 yrs. can't draw a circle. Encourage encourage. Give her a variety of tools and paints. Use big paper, cardboard, wood etc. Buy some playdoh, modeling clay and let her sculpt. Go to art galleries and explore. Simple kitchen gadgets make great paint tools. Potato mashers, basting brushes, spoons etc. Have fun!!!

My just 2-year old does the same things like drawing recognisable objects and letters. She loves to draw balloons, write her name and suns and people with faces.

Keep encouraging her cause its only a good thing. I have been called a "pushy mother" because my daughter is beginning to do basic reading and writing at home. Given that she has been interested in letters, number, words for a long time its not surprising. She gets a pen or crayon and a piece of paper and asks that I write words for her..."mummy, write balloon. mummy, write bubbles.". Your daughter will only be at an advantage if she attends school with the skills of reading and writing. Just be sure that the school that you send her to has programs for gifted children so she doesnt sit in class bored, while the class is learning something she already knows how to do.

Good luck and let your daughter tell you what she wants to learn...she sounds like a very intelligent little girl...

Were you watching this 2-yr old draw the person w/ eyes, nose, mouth, hair, and ears? I'm wondering if your 5 yr old drew it. Most 2 year olds are lucky to make straight lines, circles, triangles if they aren't still just scribbling. My son (3 yrs w/ great hand coordination) can draw a box 'car' and some ovals inside that are 'people' - or so he claims :)

it sounds like your youngest is ahead of the game - normal for a two year old is to draw lines and some cirlces, they will say the line is mommy or whatever, but it won't resemble anything

She has very good eye-hand coordination as well if she is copying letters - yes, encourage her, encourage her, encourage her! She is talented!

Looks like you have a young Mary Cassatt. Maybe you should contact your local University and talk to the Art Director to see how to best encourage your daughter's gift!

My two year old scribbles and says TRAIN! LOL!

Your daughter sounds really talented. Always encourage her and praise her for her work. You can use her talent to teach her and get her really prepared to do well in school. There is so much available for kids to have fun drawing and learning, so take advantage.

Wow, I kind of think you're making this up because I've been around kids all my life and never have I seen a two year old draw a stick figure!

consider this a gift and encourage as much as she wants you to. There are art clubs and day programs to help aid this type of thing, let her make special cards..like birthday and christmas ...for people. I know a 5 year old who did an oil canvas painting and it sold at the shop next to mine for 500.00---let her express her artistic flair!
