Ya know, I think people's avatar does affect some people's answers. It's natural to go by looks and answer accordingly. The other day someone asked a "black person" question and he had a black avatar and I thought, how different would these answers be if the avatar was white? People just assume that what they see is a replica of what they are answering. ? Is that what you meant? That was a very good statement/question. It gives people something to think about, before their little fingers hit the keyboard.

Well... I don't really agree with that. If you put a face to a question it becomes more personal for the answerers - you know that there is a real person behind that avatar who wants real answers to to his or her question. If we were all just nameless, faceless questions in the dark - would people really be interested in putting in their two cents? Probably not.

Oh sure, there are some stupid, obnoxious and silly questions out there, but there will always be people who are ignorant, obnoxious and people that are just looking to have some fun with it.

Character is somewhat like a fingerprint, but not really. That reminds me of an episode of Dead Like Me (awesome show about grim reapers that aired on Showtime), in which one of the characters took polaroids of the people she was reaping, catagorized them and separated them into different bags labeled with different personality types. When I first saw it I was thinking, "yeah, whatever," but after thinking about it for awhile I changed my mind. We can all fit into different classifications of personality types. That's a big part of psychoanalysis - classifying personality. Yes, we do all have our little quirks and hobbies and such that make us different, but it's like this: our bodies are basically all the same - we have two eyes, a nose, a mouth, two ears, two arms, two hands, etc. and while keeping in mind that sometimes people lose appendenges or aren't born with them at all, there are always those types of deformities - and we are still all basically the same in how we are built. It's the same way with personality.

Really, though, think about it - how many times do you hear someone say - "oh, YOU'RE Bob! Glad I could finally put a face to the name."

This is an interesting point of view. I believe the Avatar is simply a "fun" item to entice people to share part of themselves with others. This, in turn, allows people to have something to comment on, and possibly get a conversation started, as this question has done. You are absolutely correct in stating that "character is like a fingerprint." I liked it the first time I read it. As for the identification of the writer of the questions themselves, I don't believe that should be relevant to the answers. Alas, this is simply, my opinion.

This is actually not a response to your question... or lack thereof... I am the one who asked about Canadian immigration process and you asked why I wanted to leave Canada. I don't want to leave Canada! I want to stay with my husband! But it takes forever to get legal status here. I was just hoping there was a secret to speeding it up.

Incidentally, I LOVE MY COUNTRY - USA ALL THE WAY!! But I fell in love with a Canadian and came here to be with him. I have a very strong patriotic heart and I will never give up my US citizenship - and it causes a few disagreements between my husband and me...... but true love, happiness and freedom are my highest priorities. So here I am in the land of maple syrup and curling.....

You better believe the two of us will be celebrating the 4th of July on Tuesday!!!! HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT ONE TOO!

You are so right. I will tell you who it is though. It is STOMPAMUDHOLENU. He thinks his name sounds bad, huh? Why is he doing such a cowardly thing then?

You, Seal and I have gotten to them. They can't argue intelligently so this is what they do...big surprise, huh...many different ID's and aliases. When is the last time you pretended to be someone else? Never because you aren't a bottom of the barrel feeder.

I like your concept. Conceptual learning is the basis for understanding the written word. It never works in a subjective mind.

I don't know about you, but I answer questions, not randomly say things about people's avatars.

I like how you process this issue. I am getting too much publicity lately.
