Yes, Adam and Eve's children mated with each other. There are some very good reasons as to why he would have allowed it at that time, then forbid it later.
1) God allows or tolerates certain things at times to further his will. There was no law at that time forbiding this type of union. The reason being because Gen 1:28 said that humans would fill the Earth, so allowing this to take place helped to begin that fulfillment. Once it met that need it was ended. It would be similar to his allowing poligamy. It served a purpose (to help the Israelites to grow into a great nation), but was stopped when that purpose was reached. (Mat 19:4,5)
2) There were no health risks that would be present as in today's cases of incest. Since Adam and Eve's children were so close to perfection, they would not have the same health dangers that incest would now produce. But as time went on and imperfection began increasing in the human race, God instituted laws to protect the human family from these problems.
3) God regularly condones things in one instance, but condemns it when the circumstances change. The best example of that is the Mosaic Law Covenant. For years, observing the Law was the only way to have a relationship with God. But when the Christ came, he fulfilled the Law. (Rom 8:1-8) So, thereafter, certain aspects of the Law became obsolete and thus were no longer needed. Anyone who stubbornly refused to give up the old Law or refuse to see it's fulfillment, lost out on opportunities to benefit fully from the ransom sacrifice of Jesus on behalf of our sins. So, you see that it was actually benefical and logical for God to stop approval of an old outdated system. It would be similar to his allowing humans to have relations with such close relatives. Once its purpose was completed, it was no longer needed and was then stopped.
So, God's allowing incest isn't a demonstration of hypocrisy. Instead, it shows that he has an arrangement and dutifully makes necessary adjustments as that arrangement grows and changes, and he does it in a way that shows love and concern for his servants.

Look at where in the Bible the command about incest is located in relation to Adam and Eve. Let's use some common sense here for a minute. Adam and Eve's children had no one else but each other. There was no way to "be fruitful and multiply" without incest at first. However, once the earth's population had grown enough (and the gene pool had been diluted enough, I'm sure), there was no longer a need for incest, which is why in Leviticus, you get the list of all the people you're not allowed to hook up with.
There's nothing fishy about it...just some plain, old common sense.

Well, that is pretty fishy, but you know, the Bible wasn't around back that far in the day, so that may change the rules a bit. But, I think that it's a sin that can be acceptable in certain circumstances. I think he'd rather put up with a little incest than see the end of the human race.

Just because he made Adam & Eve & they had 2 sons doesn't mean that they were the ONLY people created. It says that they went into the land of Nod & KNEW their wives. (not a direct quote) The Bible is NOT a play by play account of history. After Jesus was born, the Bible goes through a few years, then there's nothing until he's about 30. I actually heard someone say that Cain & Able's wives were proof that ALIENS exist. Absurd!!

If God could have created Bruce and Molly as a replace of Adam and Eve the outcomes could have been a similar. If absolutely everyone has their very own unfastened will sin will result. In answer on your question, the only different selection is to no longer have created mankind in any respect. yet God says that this is reliable that he created guy on day 6. it variety of feels angels even have unfastened will. We examine in Rev. 12 that devil took a third of the angels with him. needless to say this works in God's plans. we are no longer conscious approximately each and all of the mysteries of God. I disagree that we in our finite minds have a gripe against a limiteless God whose introduction does the two reliable an evil. however the element is, except God in basic terms created computers to be programed to in basic terms do reliable ought to we've this suitable sinless international. So, the terrific answer to those human beings it bothers is the only thank you to sidestep sin is to abolish all their unfastened will, or never create them in any respect.

God is not being inconsistent. You need to read the Bible carefully. God is the most logical person in the universe, both in his methods & in his motives. This doesn't mean we can always comprehend him; but it is okay to respectfully ask questions. So: In the very beginning, the human race was not as physically stained with sin as we are today. At first, it was not a physical problem for close relatives to reproduce. So yes, the first girls had marital relations with their brothers. As the centuries passed, the physical effects of sin began to be more obvious. (the spiritual effects were obvious from the first moment.) When God later separated the descendants of Jacob from the other nations, he prohibited intermarriage, because he wanted to spare them the heartbreak of avoidable birth defects. After centuries of faithfully marrying only Jews, the Jewish people now are sadly prone to one or two genetic conditions, more than other ethnic groups are. In my opinion, this can be avoided if the Jewish people will again seek out converts & accept converts from other ethnic groups. ...I encourage you to research the DNA/genetic aspect of this; I've heard that it really is considered possible for all humans to be physically descended from 2 original humans.

this is a good question you bring forth about the problem with the bible as its read today. We all know the bible is a compilation of texts from many different times. the problem with language translations is, until just recently we have realized that there is a large problem with language comprehension and communication in many languages when you do a literal or in many cases a semi-literal translation...the meaning is lost. In my own personal opinion this is, sadly, the foundation for Christianity. the Miss-translation and corruption of the compilation of ancient texts has put Jesus on the cross to bleed so you can be without blemish...if you step out of your religious diaper and look at the sentence alone it makes you cringe because its sadly the primary objective of a Christan. to make that idea known to all.

you probably already know the answer to that one
In fact, think further: Adam and Eve had two sons: Cain and Abel. One killed by the other. Two men left. Cain had 12 children. With who?
Where does Lilith come in all these?
