If it were true, don't you think the government would have done something about it long ago? Its summertime! Its always hot! They say motor vehicles are the major cause. If so, they would outlaw the worst ones and make more electric ones. The auto manufacturers have had the perfect car for years but they won't build them as they would lose money.

Sorrow to say, the big $$ (dollars) have a great effect on just what is or is not done, in the U.S. Some reasons are not enought money, other reasons are, keep doing it for the big profit we make, and some are just money greedy and don't care what happens as long as they make the money. It would be stupid to think we are not abusing our world with all the pollution we produce. Yes, everything wears out, even earth. Then money can't buy another! Green house effects and other are already effecting us and our world. No they won't build the perfect car until the profit is enought, then they'll build plenty of them. $$$$ (Dollars) thats the key to it, no matter what. Don't matter if people suffer or earth suffers. I see it but i don't support destroying man or earth with pollution don't matter the dollars.

Yes. Absolutely.
Why is nothing being done? For one thing George Bush has huge vested interests in the oil industry. It all comes down to powerful people getting richer at the expense of all our futures.
Please note that global warming doesn't mean that everywhere will get noticably hotter. We are are talking of average rise of only a few degrees. The problem is that this will change weather patterns across the world and so areas where life is adapted to one condition (cold/hot, wet/dry, etc.) will be unable to survive. Such climatic changes have happened throughout the world's history and life adapts. The danger is if it happens quickly (over a century or so), and we are making it happen quickly.

When you drink a lot of beer do you experience the "drunkeness effect?".... Sure you do cuz that's what alcohol does. There are measurably more greenhouse gasses ( CO2 etc ) in the atmosphere so we must be experiencing the greenhouse effect. Might we be experiencing other things also? Sure we could also be experiencing the "El Nino" effect and maybe even the THC effect. Personally I am just hoping Bernanke will figure out how we can all keep on experiencing the "wealth effect".

Unfortunately it is easy to go into denial and ignore signs of possible severe problems ahead. Domestic heating, power plants, heavy industry and airplanes are also major sources of greenhouse gases. Governments want to keep the people happy to get re-elected and tend to look on the short term. Just supposing the auto manufacturers had the perfect car why should they make it at a loss? Do you work for nothing?

Yes !! We are loosing tree and grass and air all the time, our cities are being taken over by huge companies and buildings, and we have no Forrest any more, our wild life if going down the tubes, and many are going to be ex tint in just a few years. it is up to us, to stop this and protect out wildlife, now, and get the earth back to the way it once was.. we don't need all the new apartments that are being built, and all the million dollar homes.. we need wet lands and ferrets and mountains, and places for the animals to live and breed, humans are not the only things on this earth that need to survive, and we are killing off many breads a day.. and it has got to stop now.. we have to protect our oceans and seas, and lakes, and ponds. it is up to us to do this, and everyone has to pitch in and do it.. It is the blow hard in Washington, that want to talk about it , and spend money talking about it, and that money could to to fixing the things,, lets feed a huge amount of our homeless and get them into some good housing, and get them some jobs, that help out the environment... Just a thought...

We are experiencing a slight increase in global temps. However the causes are what is in question. Millions of years ago the co2 level was 10 times higher, but global temps. were actually cooler. Methane and other greenhouse gasses (hcfc's etc.) are far more potent than co2. Solar and Earth cycles must be taken into account also. If you look at earth from space, humanity looks very insignificant indeed.

It's not the greenhouse effect. The Earth is heating up form the inside out. The polar ice caps are melting so quickly because of rising ocean temperatures. Notice how all the volcanoes are waking up? The underwater volcanoes are waking up too, heating up the water which is in turn melting the ice caps.

The next thing for you to figure out is why the Earth is heating up from the inside out. All these hurricanes and tornadoes ought to give you a hint. "Electric Universe" ought to, also.

Yes I think we are. The sun is more intense now than when I was a kid in the 70's. The Seasons are also shifting. I remember walking to school in September and seeing my breath and being chilly. Now our summers here last until mid-October.

The US government know about the current situation and have totally put it on the back-burner. Strang how they sure seem to find the time and money for war.

Apparently they can't see the forest for the trees... until the trees are all gone!

The summer temps are hotter than they've been in the past. The carbon dioxide is causing more pollen to be generated, giving us an extended allergy season... that's right now, not some day... the tip of the iceberg, if you will.
