Does anyone else think it's hilarious that the majority of the people who complain about non-English speakers, or people for whom English is not their first language, on this website post questions and/or answers that display their own poor writing skills? Seems to me that if you're going to rant that "people who move to this country should learn English," or whatever your complaint may be, you might want to take the time to ensure that your own communication skills are up to snuff.

And let the xenophobic whining commence...

They don't realize it, but their point (if they had one to begin with) is totally diluted when the reader has to read through the ignorance.

I see the point that you are trying to make but, its a bad one. You are just trying to escape the problem point that other people are trying to make. You have had your toe stepped on and now your mad. Ok, Lil Miss Educated and wants to show it. You know what most people are getting at and they are right. Bad grammar or writing is something a lot of people could work on, but most of us who complain about this problem with non-english speakers, know our basic english speaking skills. So, you are a college grad or wanna be, we don't care.

I think it's perfectly fair to assume at least high school-level English proficiency on these boards, at least from native speakers. Written English is simply not as difficult to "get right" as some people would have you believe.

The shameful thing is that even immigrants with passable English are often the subject of discrimination, due to their accents and foreign mannerisms.

You know what...i think you are right. Most of you from English speaking countries don't know pure English themselves and they are complaining that people from other countries are not having the proper english style...let me tell you all one thing...some people who dont have English as their first language speak and write better than you Englishmen and Americans...Heard about Navjyot Singh Sidhu? He's a cricket commentator from India, and his English is so pure and so advanced that even the English commentators are dumbstruck. Dont find faults in others, correct yours first.

It is funny but really people do need to learn to speak english if they are going to be in the united states of america or posting on a english speaking board. Bad language is one thing, people not speaking it at all is another

I think EVERYONE should proofread things that they write. Have you seen some of the questions on this site and how badly words were spelled?? It drives me insane to see that people won't even bother to use the spell check. There's nothing wrong with it, you know...

I think that it's sad that no one takes the initiative to make sure that things are spelled correctly and that sentences make sense.

Everyone should proof-read their questions/answers before they post them. It's only polite to be mildly understandable.
