If the Christian God is both all powerful and all good, why did he let his son die for our sins? Why couldn't he just forgive all sins without letting his son die?

Christianity and the Bible were invented seventy years after Christ's death. Paul never even met Jesus.

Basically, a religion was created because religion generates power. And offering people eternal heaven in the afterlife just for getting some water sprinkled on their heads sounds pretty good when you can sin all you want b/c some guy died to let you sin. The more believers you have, the more powerful that religion becomes.

The reason Jesus had to die for us really stems from the old testament. When the Jews had sinned they had to give a blood offering to God b/c only blood covers sin. The offering could not be a sick goat in the back of the barn, but the very best the person had to offer. This had to be done repeatedly because the people continued to sin. God loved us so much that he gave his only begotten son so that we may have everlasting life. This means that the sacrifice had to be pure and with out defect. That was Jesus. Jesus took on all of the sin of the world, from the beginning of time to the end. He took our place in death. This had to be b/c God is just. There was sin and there had to be a payment for that sin. If he were to just let us "slide". That would make him unjust. God in his infinite wisdom found a way to save his children and bring them home.

The whole point of God is that he is all holy. If he was able to look at our sin and say "that's cool. Whatever," then he wouldn't be holy anymore and he wouldn't be God. Jesus took our sins and made himself the sacrifice so that our sins would be taken away. He couldn't "just forgive us" without letting Jesus die. The whole John 3:16 thing: For God so loved the world that he gave his only son so that whosoever belives in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Jesus did not die for our sins. The purpose of Jesus's coming was to show us not that we can have eternal life but that we already do. Sin does not exist but there most definitely are consequences of our choices and decisions. As ye sow.....

God does not "let" anyone die(nor does anyone else 'die' in the true sense of the word - see above). God created the physical realm for us to experience and re-create who we really are. The choices made by individuals and groups are not God's choices - He gave us free will. Our will is God's will. This was done so that He can experience Himself through us in the same way that we experience ourselves through choices and interaction with others. God has always sent us messengers and teachers in all ages, not just one time 2000 years ago (and none since).

If you are asking, "Why didn't God step in and stop the killing of Jesus?", that would be contrary to his purpose in creating physical reality. It is the nature of man to love, then to hate(and even kill), and finally to love again those teachers sent by Him.

Yes, Jesus was His son, but then again so are you and so am I. Jesus said, "Ye are gods". When you ask God : how can I make Your will my will? - you are on the path of awareness.

Once you tune into the real God and the real Jesus, you will experience an exciting supercharging freedom that will open your eyes to the fact that We Are All One.

Do not frame God in human terms. Do not assume he is a being who thinks like we do. God is all there is, there is nothing that is not God. Nothing. See the big picture and the mystery of Jesus and his "death" will disappear.

Because there are two eternal laws that are at play in this life. Both must be satisfied and niether has precedence over the other. They are Justice, and Mercy. Gods justice demands that when we, through our choices become imperfect, we cannot re-enter His presence. He is perfect and we learn from the scriptures that 'no unclean thing can enter into His kingdom'. But God is our father. He loves us, so what about mercy? He allowed us to choose to leave His presence to come to earth to suffer, grow, and choose. He knew from the beginning that we would not always make perfect choices. It would be pretty mean for Him to do that without first making a way for our escape from spiritual death right? So the plan from the beginning called for a Savior. The Atonement of Christ satisfies the demands of both Justice (He suffered and died for our sins), and Mercy (He is now in a position to be our Advocate with the Father). Anyway, If you can get your arms around the idea that God loves us all dearly, and wants us to return, but His nature would not allow us to return in a filthy state, you begin to see the need for a Savior. Hope this helps.
PS. the whole deal with God not just forgiving everyone is all about agency. We are free to choose good or evil according to our own knowledge and will. For Him to forgive all without us making choices would destroy our agency and would frustrate our growth. Prayerful study of the scriptures reveals that Lucifer (who became the devil) proposed almost that same idea. He rebelled and was cast out of heaven because he wanted to force all Gods children to do good, and wanted the glory for himself. Contrast that with the Jesus Christ offering Himself as a sacrifice for sin, and giving all glory to the Father.

Because God is just. We all deserve damnation for the sin we committed against God. The wages of sin is death.

But God was ever so merciful and gave his only son to take our place in paying for debt we owe God.

Tell me, if someone took something of yours, would you just forgive them and pretend like nothing happened or do you want your loss to be repaid...by any means necessary. Why expect God to do just go around forgiving things without paying a price for your own sin. Jesus took care of it, by any means necessary.

He had made a covenant that in exchange for the sacrifices of animals he would forgive the nations their sins - the Hebrews whom he had made this covenant with had added over 1500 traditions to go with this and it was impossible to meet and please God by all these manmade ways - so he sent a heavenly way - a perfect sacrifice - that's an atonement that came once and for all time - and with it came a new covenant - Jesus words, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me. I hope this has helped clarify your inquiry.

Because we are not all powerful and all good.

And he loves us so much, that he could not bear to wipe us out and start over. He gave us eternal soals, the only thing that really matters is where are you going to spend it, heaven or hell.

GOD made the law of sacrifice, he is all knowing, and could not just forgive, because he said he couldnt.
Sort of like when your child questions you at two years old, they have no real understanding of the situation, like you would. and they think that you should just do it their way, but you know you cannot, and you know that they cannot understand.

GOD is this , only in a way more wonderful way than we can understand, we are his children in that respect. We must accept that we cannot explain it all or understand it all. And like children, we sometimes cannot accept this explanation.

Jesus did not have to die, but He wanted to give His life so we can have a life after we die. Wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. Romans 6:23

God gave us law, but He realized that when He gave us our free will, we are using it to be bad. So He still want us to have free will, but it came with such a sacrifice that He wants us to follow directions to make sure what is our choice.

Because God is a just God. There need to be justice for sin. If you forgive the graphic nature of the example....I'll explain it this way....
It is like somebody came and rape your daughter. If your daughter say "I will forgive the rapist" you will be extremely angry and hurt because the justice has not been served. Justice has to be served....
