you always have a choice in what you believe...in the meantime though, while you live under your mother's roof, try to think of this as a learning experience...and it may give you some character. plus, you should try to keep your mom happy.

Its all about Faith. Your faith. Some people have it and some dont. Even people that do go to church. The reason why in the bible it says you need to be a member of a church is to build your faith as christians. And to tithe. Its like giving a percentage of your income to God so it can be used to help others and eventually come back to you with much interest. A church together would be stronger than just one person. But it does depend on the church. Do what makes you happy and what you feel is right. And I had to go every sunday when I lived at home. Even now every sunday I am home I still go. Just out of respect for my parents, mostly my mother. So be a good son and go to church with your mother. When your on your own you can decide for yourself.

If you are living with your parents, no you don't have a choice. If you don't learn anything new at church, it is because your heart is not right with God. First of all, you have to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Once you do that, the Holy Spirit moves in and your start to learn and grow. If you submit to the Holy Spirit and have a desire to learn, you will learn new things. I can listen to a sermon three different times and learn three new things. Maybe you keep hearing the same thing taught over and over again because you have mastered that one thing. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you and to show you new things in God's Word...trust me, it works.

Your age is important here. If you're a teen, then tell Mom you really aren't comfortable at church. Talk about religion in a good way, but just let her know how you feel.

Offer to go twice a month plus all major holidays. If she's really resistant, let her know you understand that she wants what is best for you, but you're afraid that the boredom could put you off religion and that's something you don't want. Good luck!

You obviously don't listen in services, most churches do have a ceremony and it looks like it repeats itself. but in the catholic church the homily is different at each mass. I have also visited other churches and they do have select reading or words of wisdom that is different every sunday. the ceremony of course looks the same and feels the same every Sunday. But if you really don't want to go to church there is really not much you can do if your mom wants you to go. If you feel this is not the right christian church for you. Maybe you can ask your mom if you and her can visit different churches once a month to see what you feel is right for you. Almost everyone in my mom's family belongs to a different religion I don't know all the rules to each of there religions but I enjoy visiting their churches when they invite me.

I'd suggest going I'm 13 and I go to church I just don't listen. You can say no but it will just cause problems especially if you are like me and you want something (is greedy live with it) either way if you really hate it just ignore it and think about other things either way not going will make it a lot tougher on you. (till you live in your own place then it wont hurt you).
