I believe that honesty is the key. If your honest that always gives me a choice, but if you lie that takes my choice away. Or, better yet doesn't allow me a choice based on truth and that makes me a) loose trust, and b) hurts so much.

When someone has a hard time accepting the relationship is going the wrong way...the other realizes that saying "I'm just not that into you" will not work so they will start a argument to get you to break up with them.
Sometimes honesty is not the best policy when talking to a butt head. You might think you can handle the truth but maybe your past reactions to the truth haven't been productive. Maybe you throw tantrums, or get all "Fatal Attraction" and most people don't want to deal with that.

Well, its not just men. Some women do this too. The reason they do it is because they dont want to be the "bad guy" by being the one to end it. They want to make you be the one to break up so it is easier on them. Basically it is the cowards way out of a relationship.It sucks and I hate when people do that! But some people just have no spine. Sorry you have had such bad luck. But the pain wont last long. You are the better person. Hope it gets better for you soon! Good luck!! :-)

It isn't just men that use this to justify leaving. It is a learned behavior. There might be feelings of being trapped.
Learning to express ones true feelings openly is probably one of the most sought after ability. Unfortunately, this means risk of rejection, ridicule, etc... However, you will cast away any wrong assumptions, and confusions, that occur when communication is inferred v.s. defined and clearly stated.
