For the last 2 years, I have been dealing with a weird scaley sore that won't go away. It is painful right now, but most of the time, it is just ugly looking. It is on my nose.
I keep meaning to talk to my doctor about it, but I keep forgetting. (I have short term memory problems and if it isn't bothering me I forget.)

Should I be worried? COULD it be cancer? I've tried to put neosporin on it..but it just moves.
I am fair skinned, I don't spend much time in the sun.

Well, it is not a wart, or dark in color like a mole. The sore DOES seem to be under the skin. I don't think it has anything to do with diabetes, my doctor did run many tests recently. They believe I have M.S. But I do not think the 2 are related.

But, so far the info you have given me has alerted my husband to call the doctor for me on Monday.

Thanks so far, answers are helping me.

Spookykid, why do you say things that are not true? Skin cancer is NO rapid killer. Why do you scare the hell out of Roosha? Very disrespectful.

Roosha, call your doctor, please don't worry until you know what's going on.

Yes, it could be cancer, but it could also be something else. I have had skin cancer myself so I know how you feel.

Good luck to you and don't let people like Spookykid scare you.

A basal cell carcinoma (BCC) usually looks like a raised, smooth, pearly bump on the sun-exposed skin of the head, neck, or shoulders..face ,nose.Small blood vessels may be visible within the tumor.

A central depression with crusting and bleeding (ulceration) frequently develops.

A BCC is often mistaken for a sore that does not heal.
A squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is commonly a well-defined, red, scaling, thickened patch on sun-exposed skin.

Like BCCs, SCCs may ulcerate and bleed.

Left untreated, SCC may develop into a large mass.
The majority of malignant melanomas are brown-to-black pigmented lesions.

Warning signs include change in size, shape, color, or elevation of a mole.

The appearance of a new mole during adulthood, or new pain, itching, ulceration, or bleeding of an existing mole should be checked.
The following easy-to-remember guideline, “ABCD,” is useful for identifying malignant melanoma:

Asymmetry - One side of the lesion does not look like the other.

Border irregularity - Margins may be notched or irregular.

Color - Melanomas are often a mixture of black, tan, brown, blue, red, or white.

Diameter - Cancerous lesions are usually larger than 6 mm across (about the size of a pencil eraser), but any change in size may be significant.

see a doctor....

Check some internet sites that show melonoma (skin cancer) pictures. I have the same problem in 2 places on my face and one on the calf of my leg (that is never exposed to the sun). When I saw the pictures, I knew that wasn't what I had....For peace of mind, ask a Dr.

Cancer does spread. The process is metastasizing. The cancer goes to another cell and repeats the process, reinfecting another cell.

Metastasizing cells do not uproot and move on the surface of the skin, or the epidermis. They do this mostly inside of the body.

caner can move from one place to another, however not all at once i dont think.
The sore is possibly a cancer and you should see your doctor asap as early detection is the best treatment for cancer.
It may be non-cancerous but that is just a possibility.

Please check with your doctor as only they can give u the correct answer.

This could very well be skin cancer. PLEASE write yourself a note; skin cancer spreads very rapidly, and kills rapidly. It could be spreading under your skin right now. Close to your brain.......hello!

Please print out this question, tape it to your phone and call the doctor tomorrow. He/she is the only one who can diagnose your problem with your nose.
