I use Neospeech's Kate16 for all of my work on the Internet. She is a great sounding voice. Several videos and downloads are available for you to preview that voice.

The Kate16 voice can be purchased at the link at the bottom of the e-Speaking website:

Kate16 is downloaded through the Internet to your computer. The installation file is about 300MB--so you need to be using a DSL or Cable modem connection. The cost of the voice is $35.

Once installed, you can use it in conjunction with e-Speaking Voice and Speech Recognition software ($14) which is also downloaded through the Internet.

Simply dictate (or type) the text you want spoken into a Notepad window (or any other text application), and say the command: "Read All Text". The computer will read it to you.

I use "Textaloud" but I haven't used others, so I can't offer a comparison.

It depends on the voice as much as the software.

Textaloud has many different voices available including those developed by AT&T.

Excellent program. Voices are almost natural, but you can still tell they aren't "real" If you listen closely.
