Oh yes you can. What kind of cookies are you making? Just look online for another recipe of the same cookies but that calls for reg. flour rather than the self rising.

The difference in plain or self rising flour is the self rising has baking powder and salt already added To use plain you need to add salt and baking powder or they wont rise you might want to search for the amount you would need per cup of flour on the internet.

You can but the cookies won't turn out the way they are supposed to. Self rising flour contains salt and a leavening agent like baking powder. All you have to do is add 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt to a cup of all purpose flour. Just make sure that your baking powder hasn't passed its expiration date or it won't work. But you can not substitute baking powder with baking soda.

You came to the right plave to ask! YES, it is better to use all-purpose flour than the self rising flour to begin with for cookies. Self rising will make them too cake like. The regular flour with the glutan factor mixed in to the flour is the best for naturally rised cookies. If you prefer the cake like, make them with tad less water and 1 more egg. and WA LA, do emjoy the cookies!!

cooking is recipies, but baking is formulas if you take out the self rising and substitute with just flour the consistancy of the baked item will not be as tall okay?, so needs baking powder you have to add baking powder, all self raising flour is 1oz baking powder to every 1lb of flour

It is prefered to use plain flour. Self raising flour will make your cookies more dense. Save that flour for bread doughs.

if the recipe calls for S.R then you have to use it. If you are out of it mix 1 tsp baking powder (or is it soda. Read the back of the pack it will tell you) with 1 cup plain flour
