Barbs tend to be nippy but I have never had trouble with mine unless they were underfed and then they would attack due to hungar. You can always give them back to the pet store if they will take them or offer them for free but I doublt if you will get anyone to buy them due to the fact that as an individual, you don't have a warranty to back them up. Try feeding them a little more--if not, get rid of them. If their colors are really bright, they might be in mating season and be a bit more agressive but i dont usually have trouble with them like you are that is why i suggested feeding them--try some shrimp pellets.

I have never had a problem with Rosy barbs in any combination with other common fish.
When you add new fish to a tank, the extra pee/poo loads can't be handled by the existing bacteria and an ammonia spike occurs. This usually end up killing the older residents (I can't explain that). The beneficial bacteria take a few days to cope, I usually suggest that when you add new fish, cut the feeding a bit for a few days. Add only few fish at a time..

i imagine Finatic and whoever gave rretorts the thumbs down misread your question. sure, rosy barbs are education fish, and they'd do extra efficient in a wide college, yet you won't be able to keep 10-12 fish which have the aptitude to get 5 inches lengthy in a 12 gallon tank. If he's the in straight forward words fish contained in the tank, and also you do not favor to or won't be able to improve, you'll in straight forward words manage to function a million-2 extra at maximum in case you consider interest aspect and individual length, besides the actual incontrovertible reality that you would possibly want to in good structure extra even as they're small (yet then you'd favor to improve as they grew). that is extra efficient, notwithstanding, in case you would possibly want to get a more desirable tank and keep a collection of 5-6 of the rosys. A 29 or 30 will be a minimum length i'd use so that they wave a sensible volume of swimming room and a fifty 5 will be even extra efficient, and it may also assist you function another styles of fish besides.

Im not sure what you mean by ruined, but its suggested you keep at least a group of six, if they feel threatened they tend to nip other fish but in a group of six they stick together and feel ok. They are fast eaters and eat anything so you must make sure the other fish get plenty to eat. They are also easy breeders so its likely they will reproduce. If you dont like them give them to a friend. or transfer them to their own tank and get a few more of their own kind. They are a pretty hardy fish and with enough room might reach two or three inches in length.

I started out with Rosy barbs, they are horrible fish (barbs) and one day I will feed them to my pet oscars...
But for now I would reccomend that you exchange these fish for Tetra's or other more peaceful fish.
Sorry to hear about your problems, know that you are not the only one that has experienced frustrations with barbs.
