My 12 year old daughter has developed lots of tiny, skin-colored bumps on both calves. They are itchy, but otherwise not bothersome. She's had them for weeks. Could they be from shaving? They don't quite look like the photos of molluscum I've seen. Please help!

sounds like an allergy, Is she walking through weeds or tall grasses? Does she wear socks that come up that high -- have you changed laundry detergent.

My daughter had itchy red ones -- I think it was the mosquito repellent.

Oh, try some benadryl and see if that takes them away in about 2 or 3 days.

Could be from razor burn. Has she just recently started to shave? It could be the shaving gel she is using or the razor. Razors have tiny little lubricating/moisturizing strips on them that she could be having a reaction to. Like any other skin problem, to solve use process of elimination. Try a new brand of razors if that isn't the problem- try another brand of shaving gel. If neither of these solutions solves the problem I would suggest going to the dermatologist. Also make sure she is not using a dull or rusty razor. You should change or throw away the old razor after about 4 to 5 shaves. A dull razor is usually the culprit for razor burn or skin irritation.

If its not an allergic reactions, then you might ask the doctor to check and see if it exzema. Its like a skin irritation that won't go away. It's white colored bumps, sometimes red and they spread. My son has it on his stomach now, which started out from chest to legs when he was born. Ask your doctor to check her for that. Hope this helps.

Rashes and/or hives can develop for many reasons. It could be a reaction to sweat, stress or unknown allergies. You should take her to a doctor or at least give them a call. Good Luck

Has she changed the soap she uses when bathing? Or maybe a switch in clothing detergent, softeners, etc.

Is she using Nair? Or a new lotion?
