You will most likely be given an opportunity to list some choices of where you would like to be stationed, however they will all be within the states. You are deployed to Iraq, not stationed there.
And yes, martial arts classes are available @ the base Rec Center.

I Know in the Navy after basic training you go to A school. Then if you are top in your class you get a choice on which Billet (assignment) you want. If you are average you go where they send you depending on what you are trained to do. I do not know how the other services do it but I think it's similar in some ways.

if you are going into the army and you want a certain post after you graduate basic and AIT, you HAVE to get it in your contract, or the army will send you wherever they want/need you. right now being in the army you are guaranteed to see action, especially being infantry. it doesnt really matter where you go, you will see action. my suggestion to you (if you are single) is to try to go somewhere in europe or japan, those are very cool places to be stationed. and you will get deployed from there. i went to germany and i loved it. if you are married i recommend trying to stay as close as you can to home for your spouse so that they dont have to move to a new place and not know anyone and then you get deployed and leave them there. i must stress again you HAVE to get it in your contract or its not happening.

Go to Japan, then transfer to Germany, and then if the war is still going on and you want to kill yourself Iraq. If it is over and you still want to play with your life the CIA could use a moron like you to run covert operations in Iran.

you have no say in where you go after training. They like to pretend you do, but you don't. If you want to be a ranger, try to get in to ranger and airborne schools as soon as possible.
