It is quite safe, as many here say. At the same time, if you are American born, it may be difficult for you to blend in with the local culture: somewhat rough and direct, usually more than what Americans can stand without training.. :) a good solution is to live in Raanana.. where there's a large English speaking population with less cultural differences. good luck: if you do it right, and take it slowly, it would be a wonderful experience of coming back home.. :)

When living in Israel, people usually don't think about terrorism, they just live their everyday lives. People though drive in Israel like crazies, this is by the way much more dangerous than terrorism.
The only places I definitely wouldn't live in are the Occupied Territories (Judea, Samaria, Golan Heights, East Jerusalem). The first two, and East Jerusalem, are also dangerous, but there are other reasons besides personal safety.
If you don't have a money problem, I'd live in Tel Aviv. It is a very cool place to live in; the problem is that it is a bit expensive to find a good apartment there, so some people live in the Tel Aviv suburbs instead. But if you can live in Tel Aviv and walk to the see, you're a happy person ;-)

Almost anywhere in Israel is safer than the safest places in the US. Other than terrorism, there are very few violent crimes in Israel. Any city in the US has a much higher violent crime rate than an Israeli city of the same size, even when you *include* terrorism.
As for work, there are the same types of job opportunities in Israel as in any western country. Which jobs are *most* in demand changes pretty quickly, though. Check with your closest Israeli consulate for details at the time you are ready to move.

Israel is a great place and u will enjoy ur life in there. there are no safer places or less safe. there are things to avoid like taking the bus or staying in the middle of a big crowd. the government is doing the best they can to protect the people. Life in Israel are not easy though. expect many hard and rude people, but many soft as well. the Israeli people are known as rude and hard but they are also very friendly and sweet. good luck :D

Why on earth would you want to move to Israel . . . have you ever been to visit, it is a beautiful country but the arrogance is even more lethal than the political situation . . if you cherish your personal freedom and privacy, do yourself a favor . . stay home and go to Israel to visit from time to time

You'd have to be a complete idiot to want to live there. We could use less of those here so please move as soon as possible.
