I've known this girl for 9 years, and i could tell she used to like me, we are still really close friends. I love her and I've told her how i feel, but she's never said much back, all she says is thats really sweet and stuff like that. Even though she hasn't told me she likes me, anytime she sees me she gets a distinct look in her eyes and she always smiles. So, does she like me, is it worth it?

It is possible- but if you have known her 9 years and she has not said anything you need to ask yourself why. Girls have a tendency to hol onto guys who like them more as an ego thing than becuse they are interested too. So just be careful you dont get hurt.
Non specific answers like it is sweet are a typical symptom of that - dont set yourself up for a heartbreak.
Just be careful and back off a little - if she likes you she will come after you. Take care.

Sometimes the direct approach is best, just ask. But if that seems too bold for your liking, look for the following signs. Pay attention to your conversations with the person in question.
1) Does this person show a special interest in having a conversation with you and, once started, make an effort to keep that conversation going?
2) Has this person taken a sudden interest in your life and hobbies? This is a sure sign that he or she is interested in something.
3) Other elements of body language include frequent eye contact, holding your gaze and looking down before looking away.
4) Does the person you're wondering about just plain smile at you a lot?

It doesn't sound like she likes you the same way that you like her. But the best way to find out is to just ask her. If you've already told her how you feel, then what do you have to lose? Just bring it up again and ask her how she feels or if she wants to go out sometime and if not, just stay friends if you are able to continue doing that.

If you've told her that you like her and she hasn't said anything back then she probably doesn't like you. If you haven't asked her, however, now's the time to do it.

i don't think so. she's probably flattered that you like her so much, but that's probably it. If she hasn't said it back, chances are she just likes you as a friend. Sorry.
