A nice outfit, or a nice quilted blanket with his/her name. Both around $20-$30.

I used to work at a children's store and the biggest selling item for people like that were keepsake things. You can get a nice silver box for their first tooth or for their first curl for around $15 but it looks expensive. Also, you can never go wrong with something practical like a basket with diapers, bottles, baby lotion and a blanket or something.

I have bought this gift for several of my bosses as well as family and friends, and it's always been a hit! Baby Nikes, they come in a cute tin-box, "blue or pink". They're really adorable!
