If your son has a stomach virus and he's throwing up, wait 2 hrs after he's thrown up and give clear liquids or pedialyte to help keep him hydrated. I'm not sure if Gatorade is a good idea. make sure that he sips the liquid to ensure that it stays down.
After 2 hrs give him the BRAT diet
Bananas
Rice
Applesauce
Toast
Keep the food really bland tasting, for about 24-48 hrs. just to make sure that the food is staying down. If after all that he's still throwing up, call his doctor.
Hope it helps and good luck

You didn't say how old your son was. If he's a toddler , pedialyte is better for him than gatorade as it replaces elecrolytes and doesn't have the sodium or sugar content of gatorade. Chicken broth and crackers seem a good way to start, nice and light, see how it goes. Lot of luck stomach virus is never fun.

If your son is playing and hyper again, then he should be ok to eat solids. If he has loose stools, try the BRAT diet...bananas, rice, applesauce and toast....any juice with a "p" in it will cause him to have loose stools (good for constipation) and also stay away from diary products until he gets back to normal

crackers or anything dry like that a little at a time is fine it will help get his stomach back to normal and also soak up stomach acid that might get him throwing up again. if he can keep that down for, i usually go with, 1 to 2 hours then give him a little more. if he does throw up after you give this to him wait 2 hours and try again.

Sounds perfectly ok. Soup, crackers, popcicles, Gatorade, Applesauce, Jello are all good choices to begin with. If he seems better tomorrow, you can gradually add other things to his diet.

Brat diet stops crapping.
Bananas, Rice, AppleSAUCE, Toast.
Chicken noodle soup in small quantities is good too.
If he's happy & playing sounds like it's running it's course.
I hate when the little ones are sick. Good luck, hope ya get some sleep.

If he's hungry great! Let him eat! His body is telling him he should by feeling hungry anyway.
My kids used to get sick twice a year at least, and they'd eat all they felt they could, and did fine.
he esp. needs fluids due to the runs of course, but you knew that!
good luck. :-D

For now, put him on the BRAT diet-bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. That should keep him from barfing!

you should give him solids but nothing to large or heavy, it is better just to give him clear fluids and gaterade, that is best, and if you give him food and he throws it up again, just give him fluids. i hope he gets better, if you have anymore problems or questions e-mail me at robinsondancer14@yahoo.com
