"But in recent days, senators and the White House have dropped hints that they are willing to move closer to the House's position -- perhaps by agreeing to a two-phase plan that would begin with construction of triple-layer walls, deployment of surveillance aircraft and other means of tightening the border with Mexico.

When those measures are fully funded and operational -- a process that could take as much as two years -- debate on some version of the Senate's broader proposals would begin."

yars232c - I agree. That is why the 'discussion' needs to start, rather than just say year two a specific PLAN starts. The proposals in the Senate Bill have made me very distrustful.

yes, but the house shouldn't be fooled with 'you get what you want now, we'll get what we want later', it's the same thing.

Felony convictions, deportation, even more laws to strip citizenship. If they want immigration, fine, but not unlimited or uncontrolled legal immigration. There must be an objective study or studies done on what and who and how many types of legal immigrations there should be that subjectivity and bias are kept out of the results as best as possible.

My faith in either is gone. There is so much corruption (Mexico has the same problem)it is hard to trust anyone.
Each would sell their Mother for profit. I bookmark this-and will watch. And yes immigration will be key factor in election.
And the Senate knows from polls-they are in trouble-so they will have to give a bit.
Thanks for the information.
