It's so close in my room during these dog days of summer that i find myself breathing heavy & waking up with headaches. I figured that on top of adding a dehumidifier, I should try to somehow raise the oxygen level in my room.

You sound like you feeling hypoxic. Plants will help since they take in CO2 and give out O2. But if you feel like you are breahting heavy and wake up with head aches you might be snoring in could have some Sleep apnea. Do you feel tired all the time? Are you like the rest of us and could use to shed a few pounds? This could be a possible indicator of Sleep apnea. If you live with someone ask them if you snore. If you skip breath like in slepe apnea you are decreasing the o2 content making you feel like you can't breath and end up with a head ache. If you live alone try video taping your sleep a 2 hour video should catch a apnea episode. That is when you stop breathing for a short itme because of snoring. If you do have sleep apnea then you need to see a doctor and check the severity of it. They may place you on a CPAP which is a positive pressure device. In the mean time if you thin you are snoring which does decrease the o2 level needed you can buy a Breath right strip at a drug store, which you place in your nose. This will open up your nasal passages and allow more air to get in.

Well there are several ways of promoting oxygen,1.sealing your house tight with a large hepa air system, expensive. 2.Just by a air purification unit for the room you mostly hang out in.or 3. put plants and small trees in rooms along with small hepa air purifiers. Plants filter the Earth's oxygen. That is why we should save eco-systems in our planet.4. Check to see if you have mold & mildew festering around areas that get damp. #3 is my choice

Well, an easy solution is plants and lots of them. Another thing you can do is open as many windows in you house as possible during the night, so that your house is ventilated and so during the day you get fresh air while they are closed and it won't feel as stuffy.

What about a fan or house plants? Air purifiers are expensive and I don't know if they really work.
