My dog has a visco memory foam pad in her kennel, her water and food dishes have a special bone-shaped plastic riser that they rest in so that she doesn't have to bend over so much, and her toy collection rivals that of my me and my sister's Barbie collection from the early 1990s. She's allowed to go into the garden and pick her own tomatoes, my grandparents let her pick her own treats out of the special treat bowl at camp, and my mother always makes sure that she has a bit of supper every night, whether it be a pizza bone (crust) or prime rib (not joking). And the sad part is, I would buy her a pink argyle sweater, but she's too big.

When we had a dog, we bought him a doggie futon, which is not as luxurious as it sounds, it's just like a big firm pillow with pillow case that sits directly on the floor. My sister knitted him a blanket, and bought him a boomerang pillow to curl up on because the shape conformed to his body better than a normal one or some such thing.
I now have a cat who has a range of toys he doesn't play with, food that sounds and looks better than the food I eat, is more nutritious and probably costs more!

I paint my Pomeranian's nails. I really wish he would have been a girl dog though, but I still do cute little girl stuff on him :) He has a memory foam bed that he doesn't even sleep on. He has tons of clothes that he has gotten too fat for and I even bought him these cute little army boots the other day! The things they have for dogs now - it's soo cute! I think everybody spoils their dogs. You think of them as part of your family and you want to do everything you can to make them happy.

oh, of course our dog is a member of the family! We don't do any of the things you list in your post, but do lots of other things that I'm sure some would think is weird and disapprove of. But she's our baby and it doesn't hurt her or anyone else to spoil her a bit.

I sure do "humanise" my Yorkie. Its hard not too. He is so spoiled. He has over 200 outfits and his own closet. Thats no joke. Since I don't want children, he is my child. Anyways his style is cute.

Well, my dogs still have structure and discipline, just like my kids, but I talk to them like they're other people. I even tell them jokes. When you talk to them like they're intelligent, they learn to respond as such.
My dogs get home-cooked food for treats, but nothing with salt, fat, or sugars. Just plain, boneless chicken, good cuts of beef, veggies and some fruits, pasta and rice, etc. They sit on the furniture more than we do, and to keep from disturbing my pregnant female, I will happily sit on the floor and rub her tummy as she takes full advantage of my La-Z-Boy. I have no problem with that. I've been there three times, and I know what it's like!
They get better health and dental care than I do, too. I think I'm way over-due for a tetanus booster, but my dogs got all of their shots two days ago. *heh* One is going back in for a tooth-cleaning and a neutering in two weeks. (I've already been "spayed", so I'm clear on that one...)
Between their toys and the ones that belong to my two-year old daughter, we can't walk through the livingroom. Oh, what a mess! Sometimes they get confused on whose is whose, but for the most part, the dogs end up with the ropes and bones, and the daughter ends up with the stuffed animals and books. They get comforters in their crates, so long as they don't chew on them. (Still insist on crates to keep them safe. They love them, and go in them on their own for naps. They each have their own personalized crate, with favorite blankets and toys.)
While my female is pregnant, she gets extra healthy treats, and gets to sleep in our warm waterbed, even though we have a rule about not letting them do that... (It's hard to sleep with four *snoring* dogs in your bed...)
I only dress them in clothes for short periods of time, since they get absolutely humiliated and will stick their butts to the floor and refuse to move, in case me might laugh at them. *giggle* (My male looks good in my daughter's cowboy hat and vest...)
Yeah, they get treated pretty well around here. I'm home all day with them, so I get to spoil them all day long.... I wouldn't have it any other way!
