If you are having a christmas themed wedding go with the traditional christmas colors, but if you are just having a winter wedding, use the outdoors for inspiration. There are some extremely awesome colors of blues in the winter. I dont know where you are from but the snow to me is so extremely beautiful. Turqoise is more a a fall color. Think of some of the smells that would go along with that time of year also and try to incorporate that into your wedding.

Winter calls for deeper colors (burgundy, forest green, deep blue), but for a classic, richer look, go for silver or gold, with a little bit of deep red or violet. A wonderful flower for the winter is the calla lily (very sophisticated) or a deep wine colored rose for the more traditional look. If you are looking for a more contemporary style, a royal purple with silver or gold accents works well that time of year.
If you are thinking of turquoise, it should be a darker shade. The lighter variation is normally reserved for summer or late spring. One way to soften the starkness of the color is to use a cream or soft white instead of true white (save that for your dress!), but you also need to do what you're most comfortable with. This is YOUR day after all, and if turquoise is your favorite color, and you have your heart set on it, then go for it! Forget what tradition says.
Best wishes for your big day.

I like deep red - almost a merlot color - and a rich creamy off-white. Black, white and silver is also a nice color combination for winter. Congratulations and good luck!

I'd say an Ivory type cream and a metallic gold. That would be beautiful. With Ivory and gold and maybe a hint of red roses. with green accents.

Red and white would be lovely, but to really incorporate the season into your decor, I would decorate with lots of holly at the reception. :) congrats.
