If you aren't afraid of the sight of blood and can tolerate kids. Then you should do fine.

I just finished the Police Academy. People ask me why I want to be a cop. They tell me there's no money in it. It's just something I feel I need to do. I consider it a calling. I tell them i've never met anyone who became a cop for the money.
Medicine is a noble career. Being a pediatrician is going to take a lot of heart. I have a friend who's a nurse and she spent some time in a children's cancer ward. She said it was one of the most amazing experiences of her life. All those kids were so full of life and had such great personalities and outlooks that you'd never know they were sick. Many of them, she said, would never live to graduate high school. They knew it. But they couldn't be bothered with that, they had to get busy being kids. Ironically it gave her a lot of hope.
That's what i'm looking for. A career where I can help people. Where I can make a difference in someone's life. That's why I say it's a calling. It's not so much what I WANT to do.. it's what I NEED to do. I hope you find yours.

Well first off medical school takes a lot of dedication. Going to medical school costs about 100k dollars once you're all finished. Are you good in science? Do you like biology a lot and the frog disection thing was actually FUN for you. In med school keep in mind you will have to disect a lot of dead animals including a human being. How do you feel about children? Would it be hard for you to give one a shot with them screaming their little head off? Dont be a pediatrician just because you like kids, there are preschool teachers for that. Being a pediatrician is about treating kids not playing candyland and chutes and ladders with them.

Talk with your guidance counsler. See what other options are out there waiting for you. I know it's a long time to go to school for medicine in ANY field that you choose, wheather it's internal, pedatrics or medical practioner. If you are going to pursue a medical career, you'll need those classes no matter what. Maybe check into psyhcology or DVM. There are thousands of choices to look at. You have the power to change your path. Good luck.

Try to find people who actually work in the medical field and get different experiences (both good and bad) about it.

As a certified Paramedic for the Fire Dept of NY I love my job and helping people. But it's a lot of hard work, I'm not even going to lie.
