I have only been dating this guy for a little over a week but things seem really right with him and we're all ready in love *that's really really fast for me* I've never had sex but he has had sex with one other girl and I'm wondering how long is the right amount of time to wait for him. I'm not religious so I don't have a problem with having sex before marriage, but that doesn't mean I don't want my first time to be special and memorable. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, from advice on how long to wait, how to know if he's the right guy to lost it to, and how to go about the act in itself-tips would be greatly appreciated.

Note: He's all ready talked about marriage and how much he loves me and could see this being long term...so, I don't know. I believe him and trust him, I don't plan on having sex tomorrow, but I just don't know how soon is too soon with these things.

I don't know if you're ready or not, only you can tell that.

As to whether he's the right guy, would you trust him to be gentle when doing something that might well be painful? Do you really enjoy heavy petting with him, and is he good at it? Do you trust him to always tell you the truth? Are the two of you capable of having a good laugh together if it turns out to be a complete fiasco (because the first time usually is)? If the pill and the condom both failed (neither are foolproof) and you had to get an abortion, would he drive you to the clinic, and comfort you afterwards?

If decide you're going to, you need to be on the pill (or some other form of contraception like an IUD), you need to use condoms as well, and it would be a really good idea if you both went to a clinic and got tested for sexually transmitted diseases and shared your test results with each other (yes, there are STDs even a virgin can have, candida or crabs for instance can be caught other ways too). Don't assume that he must not have anything because he's only had one other girlfriend, one of my friends caught AIDS from his very first girlfriend.

Wait at least four to six months so you know that your feelings for him are really love and not just lust and infatuation. People often get into relationships and think they're in love by the end of the first week when they're just really happy that they're in a relationship. Give it some time! You'll regret it later if you don't.

WAIT. A little over a week is NOT long enough by any means! Wait until you've been dating him for at least a year.

If he can go with you for two months and now really beg for sex or ask all the time for it. He may really like you too and want to have a relatinship with you and stay with you after you do have sex.

You are not dumb.
What if you got pregnant?
Can you handle it by yourself?
Can you rely on a week long boy friend to be there for you?

Think. You are in control.

you need to get to know this young man, it been only a week,
and you really don't know him, take this time to get to know him
what is the rush. if it is love then what the hurry. this is a special
time for you and you need to not rush into something just for the
sake of it.
