I was not raised that way but I read it in Timothy and just my personal opinion I dont think women should preach the word of God we as women like to have our way and always seem right so we will enventually add and take something away from it and that is a sin so let man deal with it that way if he does something wrong he can deal with it and the women race could be well off

I became a Christian when I was 33 years old, but I go by the Bible and it says that women can not be in authority over men. So that eliminates Pastor, but now evangelist, teacher, all ministering to women or children. There are examples of women prophets in the new testament. Philips daughters.. I listen to Joyce Meyers with my wife..

I was raised that a 'man should be the head of the household'...However, given the fact that we are in last days:

I think it's perfectly fine for a woman to preach....considering that in the last days that females will "prophecy" (which means "forth-tell") --- and what's "preaching" if it isn't "forth-telling" God's message?

the bible says:
"'In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams." Acts 2:17

I don't think that women are not meant to preach...but I think that they ARE meant to teach in other ways than as a pastor. Women in my church teach young women, young men and children. They teach women how to be more effective mothers and wives. They teach young women how to be chaste and how to progress as young women. There is also a combined class where both men and women teach a combined class of young men and women and it can be taught by a man or a woman. They answer questions that pertains to adolescence when appropriate and in a reverent way. not in a vulgar way that the kids would learn in school...Best said, they learn God's will as far as the subject goes. If it is too sensitive..they request that the young adult asks their parents to avoid feeling awkward. They teach kids how to be reverent and they teach kids how to respect their Heavenly Father. Just because they aren't the paid pastor...does not in anyway take the ability to teach away from them.

In my church, women do not have the Priesthood "authority to act in God's name" but consider this...Men are given this...not to make them superior to women but in fact to equalize them to women in the hope that they will live righteously and humbly in order to maintain the Priesthood that they hold. Men hold one form which is a higher form of authority while the young men hold a lesser form, but it is a way to help them also maintain a sense of righteousness so that they are able to learn self discipline and self control as well as learning their responsibilites and help with Church matters like preparing and passing around the sacrament (communion) to the congregation. A good strong woman DOESN'T NEED to teach a congregation as a pastor..it is not that she can't it is because her intuition and innate goodness is something that men should esteem to and by having the Priesthood...we are able to stand by our wives' side and teach the Gospel together ..and while we have different responsibilities...we do much of the same work.. my wife and I were both missionaries for two years and both of us have had our various jobs within the Church. Even married, we still are different people with different responsibilites within the church. In fact these differences help us grow as a married couple and as parents of our children.

And I know that there are women who say.."don't give me this intuition crap anf innate beauty stuff as an excuse to keep us out." Well as I said..there are plenty of ways to teach..my mother teaches a group of high school youth at 6 in the morning every day during school and they read the scriptures...in fact they read through the New and Old Testament in 2 of the for years that the youth are in school. Women also have high positions in the church, but usually in the Primary, Young Women's Organization and the Relief Society which is the largest all female association in the world. Men and women look over the Nursery as well which is where kids from 18 months to 3 years of age stay while their brothers, sisters and parents are in their own classes. they are also taught about Christ on their own level. They get to play and they have snacks and water. Women in the church also visit a couple of homes on a monthly basis to take care of the needs of the Sisters of the Church. As my faith does NOT have a paid minister, most of the time, women and men are giving 15-20 minute talks about the gospel in front of the congregation and monthly everyone in the congregation is requested to come up and bear their testimony of Christ. So in a sense, women DO get to "preach" but they do it voluntarily.

I was raised that a woman was not to pastor a church. But, a woman can teach. And, I don't have a problem with a woman being an evangelist.

most of the churches that i used to go to were southern baptist and i never saw a woman preacher. the other churches were methodist and they did have some woman ministers, but not many.
i wasn't raised going to church. but most people from my family didn't think it was right for a woman to be a preacher. i don't mind though.

Not really. It was never really brought up. The church my wife & I go to now have two pastors, husband & wife. I respect both of them and think they complement each other well in the pulpit.
