Take the bottle by the sink for when it spills out the top and find some metal object like a large phillips screwdriver or something shaped like that and carefully press the cork into the bottle.

Well, you could use your teeth.

A pliers,

A screwdriver--but it will leave cork pieces in the wine, as I've discovered.

You could even break the top off the darn bottle, but I think that only goes well in the movies.

So that leaves forcing the cork down the neck into the bottle. I agree, that's about the next best way to using a corkscrew.

Or you could just go out and buy a corkscrew.

Use a butter knife and a towel to wrap the blade part with and push the cork into the bottle. Just try to have one glass.

Got a screwdriver and a good pair of pliers?
Well, once I wrapped a wire coat hanger around a screwdriver.
Then I removed it (about a 5-6 inch twisted piece).
Then used a pliers to twist it into the cork and then pulled the cork out.

I was desperate!

I THINK GREGORY HAS A BETTER IDEA. THANKS, GREGORY.

I have dug that sucka out with a steak knife before... and enjoyed my glass (while spitting out pieces of cork all night!)
...Sometimes a screwdriver will to the trick too - but you have to push it in :o)

Get off your butt, go to the local store, buy a 99 cent wine opener.
