Generally speaking the limit for each piece of baggage is 50lbs, although it may vary slightly with different airlines. You are allowed 3 pieces of luggage, each weighing up to 50lbs on most airlines, so it's better to distribute the weight to several pieces of luggage if possible than to put it all in one bag and go over the weight limit and have to pay the extra fees.
