All these people who are saying that Jesus had siblings and that Mary & Joseph had relations after he was born are relying on the KJV text. This is a flaw in the translation. The Bible says that Mary & Joseph had no sexual relations until his birth -- but the Greek word (unlike the English) is very different. A more correct translation would be that prior to his birth there were no relations with no implication of what occurred after that.
As for the brothers -- the Greek word actually means "close relative" and could be applied to a cousin as well.
The reason that Catholics believe that Mary stayed a virgin all her life are two-fold. The first is that they did not use the KJV, so never ran into that particular translation problem. The second is that in the Catholic Bible there is text where Mary worries about being married because she made a vow to God that she would remain a virgin. Catholics believe that any vow made to God by the mother of Jesus would be kept -- therefore, they believe that she must have remained a virgin. Protestants do not have this text in their Bible -- because Martin Luther decided it was not inspired by God.
What do I believe? Oh -- I not only believe that they did not have a sexless marriage, I believe that Mary was not a virgin when Jesus was born.
Someone up above said something about the siblings of Jesus not being immacualtely conceived. The Immaculate Conception does not refer to virgin birth. It refers to the Catholic belief that Mary was born without Original Sin.

They did not have a sexless marriage. After the birth of Jesus they carreid on a normal marital relationship. They had other children that were conceived the old fashion way. Mary was a virgin when Jesus was placed inside of her. But she did not stay a virgin. She had sexual relations with her husband.

Yes, I believe that Mary & St. Joseph remained chaste all throughout their marriage.
St. Joseph's role in the Holy Family was to Shield the True Identity Of the Father Of Jesus.
Let's put it another way: Why would St. Joseph, a God-Fearing Jew, have sexual relations with Mary, after she had Conceived Of the Holy Spirit Of God?

No, the Gospel of Matthew says that Jospeh did not "know" Marry until AFTTER she had Jesus (implying that he did know her afterwards).
Besides, the Gospels speak of Jesus having brothers and sisters. Where did they come from? Joseph had only one wife, so far as we know. Both James and Jude were considered to be Jesus' half brothers. Where did they come from?
Obviously, Mary and Joseph had a normal marriage after Jesus was born.

Mary and Joseph did not have sex to conceive Jesus, Mary was a virgin and God bless her with child, he chose her of all women to birth his son, but Mary and Joseph went on to have more children after they were married.. Jesus had half brothers and sisters...
Mary is not holy nor is Joesph they were mere man but chosen of God only,, to be the parents...
Jesus is the only god, the father and the holy spirit...
That doesn't include Mary or Joseph as Catholic would like to believe.

To the last person to respond: It doesn't seem that your answer addresses the question, but thank you for your input nonetheless.
When Mary gave birth to Jesus, she was still a virgin, but later they had other sons and daughters, so obviously Joseph was involved in the process at that point. I'm sure they didn't stay celibate forever :)

The New Testament of the Holy Bible is very specific on this point. In the four Gospels, i.e., the first four books of the New Testament states very specifically that JESUS CHRIST WAS BORN OF THE VIRGIN MARY. There are those who state this is impossible. With God anything is possible!

Jesus (peace be upon him) had only one parent, the mother.
There was no father at all, therfore ther is no question about sexless mariage.
The marry (peace be upon her) was the innocent virgin gril who gave birth to jesus (peace be upon hi) and that was the miracle of Allah the Almighty.

No. Mary became pregnant with Jesus before she was married. After he was born, Jesus had at least one half-brother (son of Mary and Joseph) and may have had sisters that aren't mentioned.
