i have a usb cable but windows xp cant install it.

You need the p2k (aka motorola phone driver) driver. You can download it from

(you might first need to sign up for a motomdders account first, i did and i don't get any spam so the sight can be trusted.
Check out some of the oter stuff as well.

Afetr your downloaded the driver extract it and plug the phone in a gain and show windows driver install program to the location where the extracted drivers are.

the p2k drivers also come with motorola phone tools which is the software you can buy for the phone to sms from your pc via your phone etc. Since you already have the usb cable you can purchase a download of the software from motorola if you want.
