He needs to be on a schedule. Wake him up everyday at the same time. Same with feeding, potty training, crate training, play times and sleeping. Do not play with your puppy for about an hour before bed. Try a little bit of food before bed and one last trip to the "potty," digestion will usually make them tired.

i have a puppy that runs like crazy at night.
he used to play a lot at night. n it was hard for me to go to sleep cause she was trying to play with me. so what i did the next couple of days was;
i took my puppy out for a walk and try to get him tired during the afternoon.
that was my remedy. now whenever i go to sleep she also goes to sleep.

You must be firm. Is he in your bed? In a cage? If he is in a cage and barking or whining, no matter how hard it is you have to ignore him. If he is in your bed, you cannot let him get down. Say the same command each night so that it is consistant, such as "No, sleeptime" try to pet them softly around the jawbones and between the eyes and on the muzzle, it makes them yawn. Never ever give in, if you do it once you are stuck for life. I hope this helps, good luck with all of this!

Keep him up during the day, and play hard in the evening so he gets tired before bed. Then put him in a cage at night so he stays there! Also to keep my puppy calm at night we put a small clock beside her cage that ticked. I guess the ticking calmed her???

I have read a dozen books on this subject and heard again and again to play with him until he's tired, feed him well, take him out relieve himself, then crate him and leave him until morning.
That sounds like great advice except I can't and won't crate a dog. I wouldn't crate my kids so I won't crate my pets. Just my personal feelings ..... they shouldn't be locked in a cage for OUR convenience and doing so is selfish on the part of owners. (Trainers all over will hate me for saying that.)
My Chihuahua is 3. He wakes up several times a night. I play with him a lot during the day, take him out to potty just before going to bed and he still wakes up several times a night. He walks up and down my body until he finally settles down to go back to sleep. On the other hand, the yellow lab mix I used to own would fall asleep before I did and not wake up until I was already clattering about the house. I think it just depends on the dog.
When he's old enough, start him on obedience training. That might work. But, mainly, good luck and please keep loving him in spite of his need to interact with you at odd hours. As he gets older he might outgrow it if you refuse to give in to his demands.

puppies are like babies, they are on their own schedule. You might try playing hard with the puppy during the day, throw a ball and have him/her chase it, in other words were the little one down.

I know EXACTLY! Just put him in an extra room and close the door. Put his food, water, newspaper, and his bed in there too. You can leave a nightlight on. He should get the hint that there's nobody in there and so he'll go to sleep. After awhile, let him free and he should adapt to your schedule. Good Luck and please try it!

play more in the day and ignore at night - if he tries to play at night and you do play wiht him then he will think it is always ok.. if he crys for attention at night and you give it - he will always cry for attention - so you must be a good doggie parent and ignore him at night so he learns to sleep

Tire him out during the day, make sure he goes potty before bed, give him something warm in bed, and be quiet so he doesn't wake up
