It is true that religion formed the basis for division among mankind.Religion also formed the basis of hatred violence and war. Religion per se is not anti christ but someone`s perverted misinterpretation is antichrist. So there we are.Antichrist is a person or view who misuses and misiterprets religion.

No, no, no
Religion is evil to the wrong people, but in others it is very good.
See in my opinion the will be an actual antichrist. The reason everybody will be fooled however is due in part to how religion has painted the devil.
Imagine a person that comes down from the sky, he cures sickness, ends wars, and does all kind of other miricles. All this person asks in return is for you to give up on your old religions and follow him for he is "our savior". Wow this doesn't sound at all like the great evil we believe the antichrist will be so this must be Jesus Christ our savior right.
The truth is Satin is the great deciever, he is not a tormentor, murderur, or anything like that. All he really wants is for us to follow him instead of God. What would be a better way of doing that then to have the antichrist act just like Jesus and make people believe that it is him.
Trust your heart and not your head when he comes.
Now back onto the subject of church. Most church going people are actually good people, but a few to it to far. In other words about 85% of religious people don't critisize other religions or anything like that. They are at peace with God. Why would you say that the antichrist would be o.k. with only 15%. No at the end of time MOST will be fooled. MOST will want to follow the antichrist.
There is even a prophecy that states the Vatican will be destroyed by the followers of the antichrist.
On a side note the end is coming soon. According to another prophecy the next Pope is the last Pope; and you know how old they are when they become Pope.

Your question does generate thought but does it agree with the bible words? I say this because anti means both against and in place of. Your question covers against but it misses the in place of view or definition.
Religion is neutral in position and can not be anti or pro without an active force to bring about an act or action. Thus in the picture united with the defined religion must be a living creature of some form capable of an act or action.
In my opinion I like to think of the possible view for the number 666 being man or mankind and what he does with the book called the Bible. Most see or consider that man or mankind was revealed on the 6th day and the book called the Bible has 66 books, thus 666 in a combination or six, three score and six. I do accept it is similar to your question but in your question I do not see the active force.
Yes its only my opinion and you can reject it. Its your option, but you must smile and have a good day to do it OK

No. It's the same thing with money. Money is not the root of all evil. The LOVE of money is the root of all evil. Religion is not necessarily evil, per se, but terrible acts done in the name of religion are.
The Anti-Christ is a person...or at least a title.

Pretty heavy words. You're right in that religion causes all sorts of problems but the Anti-Christ? Scholars are even debating if such a creature exists. I'm not sure, I can't point much of a finger to it in the Bible. Anything negative to humanity can be considered the anti-Christ, really.

Yyou've nailed it man!!!
Here a quote you might like-
"One is often told that it is a very wrong thing to attack religion, because religion makes men virtuous. So I am told; I have not noticed it. . . . You find this curious fact, that the more intense has been the religion of any period and the more profound has been the dogmatic belief, the greater has been the cruelty and the worse has been the state of affairs." Bertrand Russell

People who do bad things in the name of religion are confused. (Unless of course their satanists.) Besides, the Bible clearly states that the Anti-Christ is a man. Sorry, but if you want to blame religion for the things terrorists do then you are ignorent.

The Anti Christ is a being,,,he will proclaim to be the messiah returned, It in the Bible, you should read about it.
Religion is wrong when people try to push their beleifs on others and force them to agree, like with you I don't agree , so what you can think for yourself.

The Bible is very clear on the antichrist will be. He is a man. Revelation 13: 18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.
