At 4 months her coat is probably changing. She's loosing some of here puppy fur and acquiring her adult fur and it probably makes her look a little ragged. If she's hyper, try increasing her food or allowing her to free feed at her own will. Also you may want to change her food if she doesn't seem to like what you have been providing for her. Maybe even a pet-tab vitamin a day would be good for her.

You can feed and feed hyper dogs, but it is almost impossible to keep their weight up. Give her dog vitamins you should be able to find them at a grocery store, farm store, or vetinary clinic. They have a pro-vitamin sauce that you can pour on their food that can help. Have you tried switching food? For the coat, also try some Pantene Pro-V conditioner (yes human conditioner) when you bathe her for an extra boost. I have a Border collie/ german shepard, and for a while there I was scared that the ASPCA would see him and think we were starving him. I gave him the normal amount of dog food and a little extra, and every night I would hand feed him four cow livers (his favorite) or peant butter and cheese to bulk him up. He is now two and he looks much more healthy now. I hope this helps you! I hope that your dog starts to feel better!

I would check her food first. Don't buy the grocery store stuff, go to a good, local pet store (NOT Petsmart or Petco) and talk with them about a high quality puppy food. Also, she is going to require alot of exercise, which will help calm her down. She is a puppy so expect that puppy-ness for at least another six months! Give her lots of chews and toys (again talk with your local pet store.) Stay away from medicines to calm her, we gave our lab an anti anxiety medication which put him into liver/kidney failure within a week!!!!! He did recover though.

Did you ask this same question to your vet? I would hope that he/she would have talked to you about your dog's diet. If she is thin, try mixing puppy food in with her normal meal. Puppy food is designed to help puppies put on weight so that they grow normally. For a shiny coat there are many remedies. I like to put a little olive oil on my dog's food. Just a teaspoon everyday keeps her coat shiny and soft.

I had a sable and white sheltie...aren't they adorable??? I know they are naturally hyper...that's just the way they are...You can ask your veterinarian, but tell him how much you are feeding her...good luck ...I love shelties!!!

They are miniature collies. They don't get all that big. Give her time to fill out. She's just a kid.
