Yes.
My cat, Macy, is allergic to something, we don't really know what. She gets this yucky, black, substance in her ears. She also gets skin problems. She was lathargic, and super skittish.
It is rather expensive to get an animal tested for allergies. My vet went ahead and put her on a low allergen food (called Science Diet Z/D), and she has been doing so much better. It's been 8 months on the Z/D, and she is a whole new cat. Super active, beautiful coat and skin, and her ears are cleaner.
Without her being tested, there was no way to determine what she was allergic to. Obviously, now we know it was her food. But it can be any number of things: dust, pollen, other animal dander, laundry detergent (in a cat/dog that comes into contact with any of your laundry).

Yes they can. One of my kitties does, poor little guy. He just need a shot of antibiotics whenever his allergies flare up and then he is fine.

yes. As with my own, they can be allergic to plastics and fleas. Some symptoms may be loss of fur on affected areas and swelling of the skin. I had to get rid of plastic food and water bowls and use an excellent flea preventative.
