Yes perms can damage your hair and yes it does depend what race you are...If you are caucasian...Make sure someone uses a protein boost before applying perm solution...this helps put in some nutrients before the perm does a number on your hair...perms are very drying....especially if you take certain medications or have dry or coarse hair already....Humidity will only make your hair more frizzy looking ...if it's permed...that's why you should always keep product in your hair...(not aerosol hairspray), but gel, or mousse or spritz....If you're african american and you are straightening your hair as in a relaxer...it is also drying, but cannot go away, because chemicals will have broke down molecules in your hair to make it straight and growing it out will only make it curly again...the most damage it could do, is if the hairdresser doesn't apply the relaxer cream fast enough and leaves it on too long...

I actually just got a perm yesterday... It can damage your hair if the person who's perming it does it wrong, or leaves the liquid on too long, and it can give you split ends and everything, of course, but if you get a trim like I did right after you get the perm your hair is all dandy again. It doesn't go away w/ humidity... Atleast I doubt it does. It does go away if you straighten it a lot or pull it up in a pony tail or another tight hairstyle right after you first get it or wash it right after you get it done. At least that's what I've heard.... Kay. Hope I helped. :]

Perming on a long term basis will damage your hair faster than having breaks in between perms. However most decent perm jobs will keep their shape during the summer months and times when it is humid. Make sure that after you perm you let your hair sit over night, so that means no showering for some time.

Yes alot of times it does. It also depends on the type of hair you ahve and how your hair adapts to the chemicals. It doesn't alway Damage your hair. I am not sure if it would go away from the humity because i never had a perm and had to be in a vey humid area

I got a perm 7 months ago and it ruined my hair completely! If you get a perm don't try straightening it because it will burn your hair up even worse. TRUST ME!!!

Any chemicals you put in your hair can damage it. If you are not careful you can actually burn your hair.
