Mosquitoes do not actually “bite” humans; they “feed” on them. Female mosquitoes require protein to produce their eggs and obtain this protein from the blood of humans and other animals. Only the females feed. I think they're also attracted to scents that some humans emit. I also heard once that they don't bother people who are tanned near as much as a non tanned person. I'm not sure how true that is if at all.

Culicidae which are the family of the Mosquito family don't really bite. Instead they use thier probiscus to extract blood from mammals. The females are the blood suckers of the bunch. They are mothers natures Phebotomists. The are attacted to CO2 basically the stuff we breath out. When people congregate in large numbers the Mosquito zone in on the CO2 emmission we create. Perfumes and other things like this usually make a mosquito less likely to suck your blood. When we sweat we also give off CO2, so the person who is less perfumed and in a middle of a crowd is more likely to become the mosquito's dinner. Mosquito mostly the genus Anopheles and other blood sucking bugs can be the vectors of some serious dieases, like malaria. Luckly the deadly ones are not within US boarders but they can travel.
To decrease your chances of being mosquito dinner make sure your wearing some bug spray and a little extra perfume.

Female mosquitoes are atracted to Co2 (Carbon Dioxide) because everything that has blood breathes in O2 and Co2 out. So it means that when females are out and your there you (for some weird reason) don't emit enough Co2 to attract a mosquito.

Mosquitoes are attracted to warmth and scent -- we all have that-- and this is well known. The latest research indicates, however, some people have a scent masking that prohibits the mosquito from "smelling" him or her. The BBC has the excellent article:

Ha, I was just wondering that earlier tonight!
My guess is that there are other factors than the specific person that affect this. I think that diet and activities probably also affect the bite-ratio of specific people for a given period of time.

It is all because of chemical signatures different people put out. They can "see" some better than others.
