Yes, you alternate them. You only use afrin every 12 hours. Saline you can use every 4 hours or more as recommended by your Dr.

The afrin is addictive, so try to only use it when you really have to, and not more than a few days.

you should try a nasal rinse rather than a spray. most medicated sprays contain ingredients to constrict the blood vessels in your nose. when you stop using them, the blood vessels swell up again. you will also find that with time the effectiveness decreases so you keep needing more spray.

saline spray is supposed to moisten the nasal tissue and remove the impurities that may cause the tissue to be inflamed. the problem with them is that you can't spray enough to really flush out any mucus or impurities and when you spray a lot it drips down your throat and irritates the tissue there.

a nasal rinse actually uses lukewarm saline solution which is not medicated so no fear of reduced benefits. a rinse pot with a spout is used for this. in the correct position it will pour tepid saline solution into one nostril and out the other. if you are breathing correctly, it will not reach your throat at all. there is enough solution in the pot to properly flush out the mucus and impurities. then refill pot, reverse nostrils and clean the other one! every day use will flush out all irritants that cause inflammation of nasal tissue as well the mucus that clogs the passages. the saline also has a soothing effect on any existing inflammation.

Honestly, just buy sea salt and add a pinch to boiling water, using a cotton bud to clean your nose piercing with the water. I did this and my nose piercing healed in no time - no point spending so much money when you can do it for so cheap. Later, after your nose piercing is kinda healed, just use boiling water with out the salt. Boiling water gets rid of germs and bacteria, no need for all these chemicals. Hope this helped :)
