With proper diet and exercise you should be able to get in shape enough to notice a difference. However, measuring your weight loss by pounds lost isn't a great idea. When you start exercising, you'll loose fat and water weight, but replace it with muscle, which weighs more. Try http://www.sparkpeople.com to set up a diet and exercise plan!

I lose and gain 5 lbs. per week regularly. I weigh myself nearly every morning. I tend to gain the 5 lbs. over the weekend where I eat more than I do during the week. During the week I lose the 5 lbs. by not eating breakfast nor lunch and only a sensible dinner.
That being said however, I have gained 10 - 15 lbs. recently because instead of skipping lunch as I had been doing, I've developed a new friendship with someone and we have lunch once or twice a week together. I told her I'm going to have to stop having lunch with her. I'll be happy if she'll join me for dinner, since I eat dinner every day.
BTW I can drop nearly 10 lbs. within a week if I skip breakfast (which I rarely eat during the week anyway), lunch and quite drinking Cokes. I tend to drink about 2 20oz. bottles of Coke a day - hard to quite though, I get monster headaches.

yes it is possible, but be careful if you have any medical problems. You can alternate diets. There is a diet called the cabbage soup diet, a meat and salad diet, and fruit.
The first week you stay strictly on the cabbage soup diet.On web search just put in cabbage soup diet and it will give you the recipe. Next week eat nothing but salad and lean steak and chicken. The third week eat nothing but any fresh fruit, {not canned}.and drink milk. During all three weeks drink as much water as you can stand and it will flush the fat out of your system. Try and get some light excercise, such as walking at a comfortable pace, or swimming. Also take some multi-vitamins during this time. You have to follow this pattern as much as possible. Good Luck!

Here is what you need to do, if you are serious about losing weight and keeping it off. Eat 6 small meals a day about every 4 hours. Here what that will do for you, your metabolism will increase (i.e. Loose weight) and you will have more engry. If you go on a diet and eat less, your metabolism will slow down and store to fat. That is why diets dont work. Only the size of your fist, carbs (examples:baked potato, pasta, oatmeal, beans, corn, melon, apples, fat free yogurt, whole wheat breads)in one and protien (examples:chicken breast, swordfish, shrimp, turkey breast) in the other. You can also eat vegetables and salads with any meal, they dont have none or little fat). 30min cardo exercise every day. Any of these(examples: walking, jogging, swimming, running, biking, ect), Monday cardo, tues upper body (arms: curls, tricep extensions, pull ups, front press)(abdominals: leg pull crunch, leg raises), (chest: bench press, butterfly, pullover)(shoulders: front press, arm pullover, cross county skier machine)(back:seated row, lat pull downs, back extension)(YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IN ONE DAY, mix it up) wed cardo, thurs lower body (legs: leg pull, leg press, squats, lounges) fri cardo, sat upper. Sunday eat anything you want and dont exercising, you do this on sunday so your body doesnt go into starvation mode. YOU NEED TO TAKE SUNDAY OFF. If you stilck with this you will have a great body. also drink aleast 8oz of water daily! Stay away from Mcdonals, Wendys, ect because there is nothing good for you on the menu's even the salads are bad (beaon bits, cheeze, dressing, ect) Good Luck :)

Not for a sustained period of time in part because of the type of energy burned. However, if you are faithful in a very healthy diet ALONG WITH strength and toning exercises at least 30-45 minutes every other day and a good 30 minutes of cardio(walking, dancing, swimming) everyday, you are going to be blown away with the result! It will be noticeable. You don't have to kill yourself with it, just stick to it.

although i dont really recommend it you can do it. what you want to do is burn an excess of 3500 caloires for every pound you wan to lose. reduce you calorie intake to about 1500. Go the the gum everyday and burn about 2000 calories or more a day. that should place you around the 5 pound mark if not a little more

heck, yes and it just happened to me. i went on vacation in a warm place, where i could walk anytime. i walked early (6am-7am) in the morn, @ a slightly faster than normal walking pace, for one hour, every day for ten days. don't forget to stretch b4 and after. it gave me energy for the day.
i ate blueberries, pineapple, cherries for breakfast one cup total, morn snack an medium apple, lunch one lean cuisine, snack soy milk one cup (freeze it like ice creme slender soy is lowest carbs), dinner one lean cuisine, snack protein, a couple of cold shrimp with lemon. i went to bed at 9-10pm so i wouldn't eat anything else. i also took acidophilous/bifidus (sp?) pearls & digestive enzymes during the day when i woke up and after each meal.
i was very shocked that i got there weighing 160 lbs and left weighing 146, 14 pounds, 10 days. my weight is all in my gut, i have a waist again and my face looks thinner. that's my actual story. good luck. start early, don't wait, what ever you do. leaving it will only cause you more stress.

Sure, if you stop eating entirely. You might die though, so I wouldn't recommend it. Unless you want to die, of course, but from your question it doesn't sound like you do.
