I wish to buy a flanders pup and would like to know if it is a good breed for a home with seniors and very young children..

How should I select a pup from a litter?

What sort of books should I read before buying a pup?

A friend of mine used to be married to a man who bred Bouviers. They are big dogs who need alot of grooming. They are also definately a handful, some can be very aggressive. One time they got in with the pigs and it looked like a big bloody slaughterhouse. They actually were eating some of the pigs alive. And this is a herding breed!

Sorry for the graphic story. I realize there are people that like them. I have been around them and don't like the breed, big nasty dogs who require alot of upkeep and a very firm hand. This would definately NOT be a breed I would recommend, not only for homes with kids/seniors but homes of novice or soft people.

no never bouveirs have way way to much energey for seniors and childreen take my advice go get a calm dog that doesnt need extensive exersise they do not make good pets for people that dont have the time or energy to take them on at least a 2 mile run every day. DONT GET ONE.

Bouviers are good dogs...as with all dogs they'll need proper training. Very protective dogs. Let the dog select you. Check into behavior books and training.
Good luck!
