You can use a blank sheet of paper, or a standard business receipt form. It is important toshow date, name, amount of sale and if there are contracturall agreements attached of buyer and seller. If there is a title, there should be a place on the title to sign and should match the bill of sale. Keep in mind the buyer in most states must be a licensed driver and of legal age.

Go to the website of your state department of motor vehicles. There you will find downloadable forms, at least in California such a service is offered. One of the forms is a "Bill of Sale" and you can download it in a moment, print it out and use it in your transaction. Hows that?

I would suggest going to your county tax office. They would be able to give you the form there and any other legal paperwork that you might need. Sometimes you don't even need to ask, they are on top of a desk or in slots with the name of the paperwork assigned to them on the outside.
