My dog does it too. It won't get any better...it gets worse when as they get older. Try comforting her, try to get her mind off of it.. I usually give my dog treats, and it takes her mind off of it.

Is she walking ok? That is important because if she's walking in a tremble-like fashion, then, it can mean something else. Might possibly be from an ear infection which cause something similar to a stroke. It's not dangerous...will slowly grow out of it. If you're worry and still persist within a week, best to take her in for a check-up.
But in thunderstorms, you should not try to calm her. If you do this, then, she will always know she can rely on you. But what if you're not home during one thunderstorm, right. You have to desensitize her to it. She has to learn eventhough she's scared...My two dogs are the same way.

If she has been in thunderstorms before and not had this reaction then its likely that something physically is wrong and it just happened at that time. You need to put the info into a websearch and find out or take the dog to a vet, which is really what you should do.

Trembling and shivering can be pain responses.

In spite of what others have said, do not ignore your dog. She can"t tell you what is wrong. It is up to you to read her signals and figure it out. I would recommend trying to get into a vet tomorrow morning and have her back checked out.

You might also see about getting some sedatives for her.

Good luck. I hope she is feeling better soon.

Don't reinforce the behavior by giving her attention. You give her attention to reinforce good behavior not unwanted behavior. You can get tapes or C.D. with thunderstorms on them and start playing it at a low volume. As she settles down increase the volume. Repeat this until you desensitize her. Do not get the volume to loud due to dogs hearing being so much better than ours and you can hurt their ears. Good luck

I've got a health food store & a lot of my customers use Rescue Remedy to calm their dogs...for travel & thunderstorms. Some of the vets up here even recommend it!

My vet told me that trembling can be a sign of pain. She may be sick. It might also be a condition or symptom of illness. Pay special attention to her behavior. Is she eating, using the bathroom, and playing normally? If not, you need to see your vet.

IT PROBABLY SCARED HER, YOU JUST NEED TO PAY ALOT OF ATTENTION TO HER AND LET HER STAY CLOSE TO YOU SO SHE CAN FEEL SAFE. NEXT TIME YOU KNOW THERE IS GOING TO BE A THUNDERSTORM, THEN TURN THE RADIO OR TV ON TO DROWN OUT THE SOUND. YOU DON'T REALLY KNOW WHAT THE DOG IS THINKING, MAYBE HE/SHE HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE BEFORE YOU GOT HER/HIM

whatever you do dont pet her or give her any attention like giving her treats or anything like that when she is showing she is scared. when you do touch her or even talk to her when she is like this you will just be renforcing the behavior. eventually she will get over it my dog was just like this a few years ago but we didnt touch or have anything to do with him when he was like this and he got better almost immediately. you can give her treats when she is felling confident and not shaking. good luck
