(I would pick Buffalo Springfield's "For What It's Worth" and Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush")

There are many good ones provided by those who've answered above me. I would add "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" by Peter, Paul and Mary. I would also consider Barry McGuire's (formerly of The New Christy Minstrels) "Eve Of Destruction".
Thanks for the memories - which we need to remember anew !!!

I would have to say " Fortunate Son " By Creedence Clearwater Revival. It is a protest to the vietnam war in reference to the rich and powerful keeping their children safe, while the poor were drafted and sent to an un winnable war.

But let's not forget my friend Richie Havens with that unforgetable song " FREEDOM" Which he wrote on the fly on stage at the original woodstock concert as he was the very first to perform .

"You Can Get Anything You Want at Alice's Restaurant" by Arlo Guthrie.

This song was written in protest of the Vietnam War.

Guthrie's talk-song, a bitingly satirical, wryly deadpan protest against the Vietnam War draft and widespread anti-hippie prejudice, recounts a true but comedically exaggerated Thanksgiving adventure. "Alice" was restaurant owner Alice Brock, who in 1964, using $2,000 supplied by her mother, bought a deconsecrated church in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, where Alice and her husband Ray would live. It was here rather than at the restaurant, which came later, where the song's Thanksgiving dinners were actually held.

I have to agree with the first poster. We Shall Overcome is a powerful, moving song.
