I have a sports car that I enter in car shows that I have installed some cool light effects inside. I would like to get some good pictures of the light effects......what do you suggest?

Need to know if you are shooting film or digital. With film I would have several ideas as to what to use and what settings. Digital is much more limited due to the effect of "hot spots" that saturate the "sensors". It depends on what options your camera has. Some have quite a few, everything from asa or din equivalents to a "bulb" like setting, as well as "white balance", etc.
If the "lights" are static, not flashing as some do (in time with music, for example), It is some what easier. At least, the one advantage with digital, you can "see" the results and adjust accordingly, where as with film, you have to "bracket shots" and hope for the best (unless you have some experiences and a rough idea of what to do).
Some one mentioned "fireworks settings" I have not seen that on a digital system, but with film cameras, that is done with multiple exposures on the same frame. I am not aware of that being available on digital cameras.

There's a "FIREWORKS" MODE in cameras. And its effect is somewhat like what's given emphasis are the lights/bright parts and everything else is black. I'm not sure though if that's what you have in mind, or if it'll work =D

Depends on the camera.
