is it quicker/easier to take the highway up through Lansing or over through Detroit, MI?

All of the places I've looked give me different answers (ex: mapquest, google maps, yahoo).

If you've done this awesome (hopefully) road trip before, or you're a human compass, I'd really appreciate your help.

Thanks so much!!

Hi there !

I live near the Toronto area and had to go on a road trip 2 yrs ago to Michigan... we went down through Lansing, and came home through Detroit...

it did not make too much of a difference in time. Both answers are correct in your search

From a distance point of view the difference is only 12 miles longer through Lansing and Port Huron. The line ups at Canada Customs are about the same. There is more construction in Detroit depending on which Interstate you take.

I just made this trip a few weeks ago, one direction I went via Lansing/Sarnia, the other way through Detroit. The Lansing way was faster, mainly b/c of traffic in Windsor, ON and the border was more crowded in Detroit.

3 weeks, no way in case you desire to extremely see something. perhaps six weeks however. you're able to be able to desire to have a minimum of at some point to be certain something in any of those places, greater beneficial than that in the process a few of those places. At this factor, 20 places in 21 days could already be a stretch - even without taking driving into attention. a number of your drives are short (e.g. Calgary to Banff, approximately 2 hours), some are extremely long (e.g. Edmonton to Winnipeg, approximately 15 hours). So your first step: decide the driving time between each and each place. Then artwork from there.
