even if you are to be destroyed, death is not to be feared.
the lie of burning hell is just that-a lie.

I guess I am not real sure what you are getting at. I do not know one Christian that fears death. Infact, to be a Christian means to not fear death because you know where your going and what awaits you. You fear death if you do not know GOD. I only fear the pain that my family may feel if I were to leave and be with GOD today. It would be hard on my kids. Christian that fear death I think are either new to the faith and are learning or are not totally commited and understand. I think their hearts are in the right place but it is hard at first to get over your fear of the unknown and when you believe it goes against your human nature which is to worry about everything. Your statement would better match Athiest because according to them once you die, there is no after life. Right?

Thank you for that insightful look on why Christians believe what they believe. I think that some are scared, but when you are a Christian you have nothing to fear. I think that it is safe to say that all should be afraid of the afterlife without Christ. If you don't have him you fall forever in the dark while burning. Not much to look forward to.
You're right, God does know our hearts and he knows our fears. It's okay to have come to know God from fear as long as you know him personally.

I'll be honest with you, I absolutely, completely, with my whole heart, do NOT fear death at all! if my time were to be today, I am ready to go. there is nothing that I feel I have to stay for, I would rather go home (to heaven)
I know what you mean, I have heard Christians say the same thing, and even say that they dread the rapture, I don't understand it. if you are sure where you are going and knowing that this place on earth is only temporary, shouldn't be excited about going to be with the Lord?
I look so forward to seeing the Lord.

The Church did much to promote and use that fear in order to obtain and maintain it's power during the Middle Ages. That has stuck with all the various expressions of Christianity throughout the ages.
'You'll be tortured forever, if you don't convert' pretty much equals 'Conform or be Damned'. The Threat of Divine Punishment. The Romans developed a means by which they were able to control a large number of people without needing military might. We will all die, there's no avoiding it. By telling someone that they will attain Paradise by converting is not enough, you must make them believe that the alternative is too horrible to consider.

I think everyone wants to hang on to life to one degree or another but that is not the same as fearing death. I wanted to see my children grown, I wanted to be with my husband as long as possible but as the years go by there are less reasons to fear death. I am not quite ready to welcome death but ask again in 20 years when I am 75. It is not the best idea to lump all Christians together as each is an individual and in a different place in their walk with JESUS.

Being a Christian means not fearing death. You believe that death has reward in store for you. The people I know believe what God says.

Im not sure thats possible... i dont think i can believe anything outta fear... i may react outta fear, but not believe outta fear...... i guess what im trying to say is... I love my Lord, I try my best to follow his teachings, and deal with life the way I think He would want me too... for this I look forward to my human body to die because I know that my heart is right and that there is a reward for my soul that is better than anything on this earth.. Some people think im out in la la land but oh well, im happy and i dont have to take drugs to get that way

It is natural to fear death because death is an unnatural thing. Even Jesus almost changed his mind by asking the Father to take the cup away from him, but made up his mind and said: "Let your will be done not mine." That is why Jesus ascended back to heaven because the Father does not want his only son to stay in the valley of the dead after dying for our sins. That is why Christ is raising the dead because death is not part of the divine design.

Christians do not fear death of the flesh. but death of the sole
There is no afterlife, at the time of the death of the flesh there is a transformation to the spiritual body, but it is the same life.

those of us that have read the scriptures understand that God doesn't condemn anyone so what is to fear. Man is the one that condemns himself by not choosing Jesus Christ. Why be afraid of a Saviour that gave everything that He had so that we could live. The only people that need to fear death are those that are not trusting Christ Jesus
