The Catholic Church is organized differently than Protestant groups.

If we are going to speak technically, it will be the Archidioecesis Angelorum in California. Speaking technically, for a Catholic/Orthodox, the church where you worship on Sunday is not the Church of that specific area (diocese). The priest exists as an extension of the local bishop, and he and all his flock are a part of the Bishop's Church. This is why at confirmation, it is the local Bishop that accepts members into the Church...they are being accepted into his Church, and it is by his authority that a person is confirmed.

As a note, then when we read the scriptures, and Paul is writing to the Church at Corinth, Philippi, etc. he is not writing to church/parish but rather to a group of parishes/homechurches/etc. organized under the local bishop (for instance Titus was the local bishop for Crete).

According to 2004 statistics 11,096,200 people lived in the Archdiosese of LA and 4,174,304 were members of that Church or 37.6% of the population.

Archbishop Roger Michael Cardinal Mahony is the person in charge of that Church, the guidance of Christ flock in LA is entrusted to him, and he answer to God for their salvation.
