What do preservatives do to your body? I know there are a lot of them in Kraft cheeses and such, but why is it bad to buy things like that instead of organic foods?

I'm not really sure what preservatives do to your body but I think you would have to eat many pounds of them to really do harm. I do know that if preservatives were not in food our food supply would be sorely lacking. A lot of us would definitely be hungry. (thinner too)

It depends on the preservative. Sugar and salt are both natural preservatives, as is sulfur. There are artificial preservatives too. Some people make an effort to reduce their consumption of preservatives and eat fresh foods instead. In many countries, preserved, frozen and canned foods are rarely used because the local population shops daily and uses the freshest ingredients possible.
