She's been on stool softeners, canned dog food, medicine, had her glands squeezed, had xrays... everything. Any idea what's wrong, and how we can fix it?

we rescue cats and dogs. here is my suggestions: make sure she has bowls of water all over the house (encourage more drinking), enough fiber (corn, carrots, wheat grass) in her food, NO Dried skins of any kind (bones or chews- really bad for dogs stomach), get cow longbones at the grocery store-do not cook, feed them to her raw, massage her tummy at least twice a day in a downward back & forth motion towards her anus. if she cries stop, she's got something stuck (squirt a little olive oil down her throat-easiest from back side of mouth). last but not least make sure she gets enough excrcise that helps every thing poop better. these are all the things we can do at home, but she should got to the vet if it lasts more than a couple of days or she seems to be in increasing pain (maybe it's an infection). good luck and thank you for loving your doggie.

Is she scared by having it maybe? My parents had a dog that did the same thing and my dad thought that maybe she was scared of it somehow.( He took all the same precautions like you did, and still it never stopped.) Anyway, as silly as it sounds, might you want to consider it?

Good luck poor puppy!

Hunni have you tried giving her cod liver oil pills, just break the capsules and put over her food, or try veg oil or olive oil....My dog Dylan used to have that problem all the time....Are you by chance giving her pig ears? that seemed to be the culprit with him....

good luck

Could have a tumor or a hernia(pocket in rectum) that is causing irritation. Has your vet done a rectal exam on your dog to rule this out?

I will guess her intestinal tract is fine and she has no tumors.
do you see bright red in her stool or is it very dark almost black one color stool?
if it is bright red (spots, streaks) then she has an open spot near the anus, if it is dark almost black then she has a problem with internal organs.
Has she been on a wormier?

NEVER TAKE ADVISE ON YOUR ANIMALS ON THE INTERNET. SEE YOUR VET, IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU DOG IS IN A LOT OF PAIN. IF YOU CRIED WHEN YOU WENT TO THE BATHROOM, WOULDN'T YOU GO TO THE DOCTOR OR WOULD YOU ASK SOMEONE ON THE INTERNET WHAT TO DO
