I'm talking mainly about the catholics out there that make fun of the mormons or hinduists (or any other religion) because they can't understand how someone could believe such a stupid religious story. Don't they understand that the story of god and jesus is just as hysterical as the other stories?

Fanatic is the key word. Religion is a created product to enforce agenda on uneducated and naive people. It works. People are so afraid to die and find out it is OK not to believe what some lying, stealing, hypocrite has told them to believe. Therefore, for the most part, they go through life making mistakes, as God intended us to do, feeling guilty, not realizing they have direct access to their pure spirit and do not need a control freak to lead them down the righteous path to salvation. Salvation is given to us by God, not another human being.

My opinion is that all religions have sacred texts and truthful teachings. The problem is that certain religions began during a time where there was no separation of church and state and so, to get more tax dollars, major conversions were prompted. SOme of them used church dependancy (absolution) and fear to lure people in.
I always say, Why is it that I like Christ but I am not so fond of (many)Christians! Christ's example, through the stories that we still hear some 2000 yrs later, are about unconditional love! hmmm
Hippocracy and judgement, deciding what is right, reducing God to the theories of men, assumng a religious "leader" is the gateway to God- its pretty dangerous if you ask me.
Moreso, through examination of different religions, one can find that they are all really the same. Religion is a set of rituals used to celebrate one's beliefs about God. We all should practice the one rule set forth by all- Harm None, or Do unto others as you would have done unto you, The Golden Rule!

Why do you single out Catholics...the Fundamentalists are the truely insane ones...Catholics are not Fundamentalists. But as a rule, when logic is brought into a conversation involving religion, the religious must resort to "read the bible," "because God said so," and other simple-mind retorts that they have been spoon fed their entire lives. So what else is new????

Please don't single out Catholics. The religious right is no better. It's a case of I'm right and everyone else is wrong. Sad. Jesus said "In my Fathers house there are many mansions" and He wasn't talking about houses for the most pious. He meant there are many ways to get to God. And all routes end up in the same place. The intolerance running amok in this world is scary. ----God weeps--

The only problem is its not a story its real. So not understanding how you could believe in another religion that is false does make sense.

hate to tell you but mormons believe in god and jesus, though hindus dont. Catholics are raised believing their way is the only way, just as mormons are and so on. Just give up trying to change anyone. be true to yourself.

no they dont. they are so wrapped up in there own beliefs that they wont know how hypocritical they are. all they think is that they are doing gods work by converting the heathens to the true religion.
