I would recommend a professional trainer. You are going to want a trainer that will train your dog and discipline you as well. Dogs need very specific and consistent commands, human beings are notorious for being neither consistent or specific.

best way to train a dog specially a big dog is to buy one of those collar/leashes that straps around his snout. This will give you control over the dog when you are holding it next to you. All you have to do is pull strong on the leash so he can know not to move unless told to.

have him on the leash and pull back on him and say in a commanding voice NO - you must let your pet know who is the boss. certain breeds require different tactics -so if you have difficulties with your dog, try training school and have someone help you with techniques

try carring small treats and if your walking down the street just tug his lesh and try and keep him focused on walking strait I know it is easier said than done but it works eventually
