Dear Sonya,
About 2000 years ago, God came to earth in the form of a man (Jesus). He lived physically on earth for about 30 years. He was crucified (nailed to a cross) by men who hated him. He (his body) died on the cross that same evening. He was then taken down from the cross and buried in a tomb.
On the third day after he was buried, he (his body) came back to life. After this, he was seen alive for a period of 40 days by more than 500 people. Many of these people who saw him alive went off and told other people that Jesus was alive. After 40 days, Jesus ascended up into heaven.
Jesus died on the cross to pay for your sins (and mine). If you repent (turn away from sin), and commit your life to Jesus Christ, you will become one of God's children. You can then live in daily relationship with the God of the Universe, and when you die one day, you can go to heaven to live with God for ever.
For a brief explanation of how to come into relationship with the God of the Universe, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/new/essence.html

I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ.
For a draft-version of my journey from atheism to Christ, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html
If you would like to know more about Jesus, feel free to contact me.
Cordially,
John

Jesus is thought to have died as though he were in a criminal, in the days when he live crucification was capitol punishment. I do not believe he died on the cros and then physically rose three days later- I believe he either died or he didnt.
I do not believe eternal life has anything to do with our flesh!
I do not believe the Bible is the only account regarding Jesus' life and urge you to study many different works to decide for yourself. Check out the Gospel of Mary magdelene, Thomas, the Apocraphies, and more more more.

Jesus Christ died on the cross, his hands and feet nailed to the cross, wearing a crown of thorns that peirced his brow. Jesus the Son of God came to this earth in human form to endure humiliation, intense scorging from scorpions(many tails of a whip), witness to others and bring healing of those who are sick and blind. He taught that there is a better life in Him. He taught that there is a God of Love that wants us to all believe in him so that we may have everlasting life with him(after death also). He took all the pain and all the sins and all the humiliations(doubt he was humiliated) to the cross for you! and for the sake of mankind! He died on the cross so that we may have life in Him! So if you believe that Jesus is the Son of God and he is Lord and you confess that to him and confess that He died for your sins and you're forgiven, then you are rewarded an eternal life. No matter how bad of a person one may be. God is so merciful He would even bring salvation to Adolf Hitler if he confessed and surrendered it all to God at the point of death. (Not saying he did but if he did then he's saved). Then on the third day he died, he rose again.
John 3:16 says "God so loved the world that He sent His own begotten son to die for our sins"
To those of you who think Jesus Christ isn't real and it's just a myth, you're wrong because it's recorded in history. Take a history class.

Jesus is not a fairy tale. If Jesus/God wasn't there then why is there a devil? Jesus died on the cross to purify us from the evil in this world. He rose again. I guess he just vanished-never really looked it up in the bible. Well he went to heavan and will come back again to judge from the living to the dead. EXTRA: as you will look at the rainbow after the rain, the bible says that, that is a promise from God that he will never punish us with a flood like(Noah's Ark story)

Jesus? Dying?
What is the Imacculate Conception supposed to mean?
(NOT A VIRGIN BIRTH! - betcha)
Jesus, the basis of Christianity? .
If Jesus died, he could NOT have been God.
Gods do not die? Do they?
If Jesus 'died' on Friday and 'undied' on Sunday, what else besides Saturday was sacrificed?
Did Jesus give up Saturday for us? Big deal!
If Jesus died for our sins, there should not be any more sins, else why go through with it?.
If Jesus really DIED, he should be dead, dead, dead!
If you swallow this stuff, you are not going to like the folks who don't. You want them to swallow it too.
They want everyone to convert to their non-thinking.

The word describes the setting “at one” of those who have been estranged, and denotes the reconciliation of man to God. Sin is the cause of the estrangement, and therefore the purpose of atonement is to correct or overcome the consequences of sin. From the time of Adam to the death of Jesus Christ, true believers were instructed to offer animal sacrifices to the Lord. These sacrifices were symbolic of the forthcoming death of Jesus Christ, and were done by faith in him (Moses 5: 5-8).
Jesus Christ, as the Only Begotten Son of God and the only sinless person to live on this earth, was the only one capable of making an atonement for mankind. By his selection and foreordination in the Grand Council before the world was formed, his divine Sonship, his sinless life, the shedding of his blood in the garden of Gethsemane, his death on the cross and subsequent bodily resurrection from the grave, he made a perfect atonement for all mankind. All are covered unconditionally as pertaining to the fall of Adam. Hence, all shall rise from the dead with immortal bodies, because of Jesus’ atonement. “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive” (1 Cor. 15: 22), and all little children are innocent at birth. The atonement is conditional, however, so far as each person’s individual sins are concerned, and touches every one to the degree that he has faith in Jesus Christ, repents of his sins, and obeys the gospel. The services of the Day of Atonement foreshadowed the atoning work of Christ (Lev. 4; Lev. 23: 26-32; Heb. 9). The scriptures point out that no law, ordinance, or sacrifice would be satisfactory if it were not for the atonement of Jesus Christ (Heb. 10: 1-9; 2 Ne. 9: 5-24; Mosiah 13: 27-32).
Sin is lawlessness (1 Jn. 3: 4); it is a refusal on men’s part to submit to the law of God (Rom. 8: 7). By transgression man loses control over his own will and becomes the slave of sin (Rom. 7: 14), and so incurs the penalty of spiritual death, which is alienation from God (Rom. 6: 23). The atonement of Jesus Christ redeems all mankind from the fall of Adam and causes all to be answerable for their own manner of life. This means of atonement is provided by the Father (John 3: 16-17), and is offered in the life and person of his Son, Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 5: 19).

Jesus was crucified on a cross after being whipped. This entails having one's hands and feet either tied or nailed to a cross and then hanging until one dies. Jesus probably suffocated after being on the cross for several hours. His body literally and figuratively "gave out". Crucifixion is a very harsh form of death in someone who has not whipped or scourged.
Jesus died for the sins of mankind. He literally became the blood sacrifice for your sins and mine. The blood sacrifice was Jewish tradition mandated by God prior to the death of Jesus. Upon his death and resurrection Jesus became that ultimate sacrifice and intercessor to God for those believe in him. This is a huge gift make no mistake and what is the cost of this huge gift nothing except your belief in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, the praying and truly asking for forgiveness of your sins, and then living your life in a manner to avoid sin.
After Jesus died the scriptures state that he went to "Sheol". It is unknown where this is, but many feel it was "Hell". Three days later Jesus broke the bonds of death and arose from the dead. As many as 5000 people saw him after his resurrection and before his ascension into heaven.
The Bible discusses all of these aspetcts of Jesus's life and more. It will become your guide as to how to live your life. I would advise that you read it. It has many stories, much advice, and some very haunting predictions. It will probably give you as many questions as it does answers. But it is definitely a series of books worth reading. They can truly become a guide for your life.
I would invite you to ask Jesus Christ into your life. I would also invite to speak with a local minister about this choice. They can guide you in your decision and help you along the way. God bless you and guide you in your choice.

Jesus died a horrible death. First He was beaten. Then he was made to carry His cross to Calvary. He was nailed to the cross and there He died. They mocked Him for saying He was King of the Jews. They were afraid of Him. He came to earth in human form for the express purpose of dieing for our sins so that we can spend eternity in heaven. Every drop of His precious blood that was shed on that day was for our sins. We are washed clean by His blood. He died because He loves us all so much (you included) that He wants us to spend eternity in heaven with Him.

He died in Jerusalem on a hill that the experts believe to be is Skull Hill. Jesus died because He allowed himself to die. He gave His spirit to the Father ("Into Your hands I committ my spirit" and then He breathed His last). Nothing actually killed Him. He died to take our place. For example, say you are on trial for a crime. The judge wants to put you to death but Christ tells the judge to take His life and let you free. Christ died so that we don't have to die spiritually and spend an eternity away from God.
